I've had the Roomba J7+ for 2 years now. It's awesome. Other than regular maintenance no problems from it. It's marked down to $399 right now. I paid $750 for it.

robot vacuums are for homes with nothing on the floor and generally stay very clean all the time.
meaning no kids or pets in the house.
I can vacuum my living room in 30 seconds with a handheld dyson battery powered vacuum while it takes these stupid robots 30 minutes, and they dont't even do a good job.

I’ve had a Samsung power r7070 for 5 years and it has spent 4.9 years upside down next to its dock under a cabinet.

You'll be replacing the battery three times over a five year span.

We just pick the stuff up off the floor every day. Like civilized humans.

I have a 7 year old Roomba that does a great job. If you have kids and/or a dog, it’s a necessity. I wouldn’t say it completely replaces vacuuming because we have a full sized Dyson but it does increase the time between needing to vacuum with the full sized vacuum.
I would probably opt for one of the GPS-type ones that don’t just drive around randomly. The next one we get will probably have that capability so it follows a route and covers the whole living area.

Technology improved a lot recently. They have mapping radar cameras etc

I think both have value for us. I run the robot vacuum when I'm just chillin at home, and even when the floors looked totally clean beforehand, the dust bin always ends up full. Catches a lot that I can't see when I vacuum.
I don't mind vacuuming when needed, but dusting is the bane of my existence, and a robot vacuum used regularly cuts down on the frequency you need to dust.

Agreed. My very old Neato is finally performing poorly. I purchased a new Shark on Prime Day. Neato went out of business evidently. My assumption is that others technology (lIAR) caught up or a patent expired etc.

A girl that works the desk at my clinic has a large dog and got one to help with shedding
It had an accident in the kitchen and she missed 1/2 day of work

I have had a roomba prime day deal for about 3 years now. It works most of the time but fricken little scuff marks 2” off the ground every where. Chairs, cabinets, table legs, baseboards- everywhere.
It gets stuck on any rug that has longer shags. It gets stuck under a certain table so often that I had to figure out how to block it from getting under it.
I have to clean the contacts weekly so it can charge. I think I paid $700 or so.
Now that I think about it, frick that pos.

That and I usually have something go wrong with these things..
Last one got to where it would not link to my wifi and the tech support sucked.
I threw it away and just use a Shark Handheld. Can vacuum the downstairs hard floors in 5 minutes.
