Why are there so many dead alligators on the way to New Orleans from Baton Rouge?

cause they're 300 lb reptiles with a brain the size of a pea and they haven't changed much in millions of years?

We see them all of the time on 70 from Donaldsonville to Morgan City. Lots of little guys, and usually a few large adults. Last year, there was a ten footer chilling in the road just above Lake Palourde. We stopped to wait for it to cross. One of the good ol' boys apparently didn't have time for that; He jumped out and dragged the damn thing by its tail. It was still cool and early in the day, so the gator was sluggish enough not to react much.

There are more than 2 million alligators in Louisiana. I’d be more surprised if you didn’t see any dead ones.

Louisiana has way more alligators than Florida. Reason why Florida has so many human interactions is because they have way more people.

Came down in April for a work conference and there were three dead gators on I10 coming from Mississippi to NOLA.
