The city of Birmingham next week will begin blocking off streets in an attempt to reduce neighborhood crime, Mayor Randall Woodfin said this afternoon.
Beginning July 8, several streets in the East Lake neighborhood will be blocked as the city launches its Project Safe Streets, a 90-day pilot crime prevention program.
quote:
Woodfin said consistent complaints from residents included street prostitution and illegal dumping in alleys and drug houses.
quote:
The barriers are decorated with art from two artists who live in the neighborhood along with volunteers.

So no permanent crime prevention?

Saw that. Not sure what to think about that.

Taking a page from the Harry Lee playbook.

This is the mayor who in 2020 told the police to stand down so that the criminal mob could ransack downtown. The criminal element is his constituency.

I think it’s a good idea. I’m not sure what else can be done without using the El Salvador method of locking all the gang members up.
The road blocks will make it more difficult to speed through streets for drive by shootings. It won’t prevent all crimes, but at some point, physical measures have to be taken.
Woodfin can’t keep sending out “y’all behave” messages and telling parents to watch their children. I think he honestly wants to help clean up the city, but you can’t convince low IQ criminals who have no regard for human life to start acting right.

Wrong.

Plot twist: The criminals live in the neighborhoods they’re putting blockades around.

He seems like a nice guy but he has done very little serious tackling of crime.
I think the bigger issue is the lack of people in the police force. They can't cover the areas sufficiently

And the degenerates that live in that city will just keep electing Woodfin over and over for it.

Especially if you also have a low IQ.

Dumb
Montgomery is going through the same thing and their answer is to walk around putting up Stop The Violence yard signs and the always effective gun buyback
They have both purposely gutted their police departments of anyone worth a shite
They do not want to actually stop the killings or criminal activity

To quote the great Ceelo Green, "I wonder if the gate was put up to keep crime out or keep our arse in"
