I heard a discussion about this topic recently. I cut cable a while back so mostly only watch highlights of games and listen on radio.

Apparently if you don’t have cable, options are limited to watch your favorite team. The consensus was that MLB is not popular enough to sustain this model in today’s access to nearly anything and anywhere.

While this may very well be true, the most important thing, as a Rangers fan, is that even if this was a one-year fluke, they still won the World Series! Unless there is evidence that they cheated to win it, they did win the world series, which is the goal of every team to do. I would much rather have a "fluke" season that ended in a World Series win than 10 great seasons that never end in the ultimate prize.
