buddy we could lose every game this year and it would still be worth it to have won the world series last year while ending Houston's season in their park

We might need to do a welfare check on Houston fans if they see your post. PTSD is a bitch.

Ha I want to say yes but they still have some guys to get healthy and contributing. They could be scary good if they could get everyone back in the lineup.

Do you think we see DeGrom this year??

If we don't, I think we can say the trade may not ever prove fruitful. Folks called it, but I was stoked when we landed that trade.

The DeGrom deal was a shot at having him healthy at the height of his powers for maybe two postseasons, because he’s so good he can shift a whole series

Might not happen but you won a championship without him, so whatever

My sentiments exactly. And who knows, he just might make the difference like you said in postseason play, should we turn out to be legit this season as well.

I was too. There were some knowledgeable baseball posters on this board that hated the signing and dead nuts called his injury before it happened. Rangers had to give him a shot though. Maybe he can move into a closer role a la Smoltz late in his career.

The latest on DeGrom from the Rangers’ roster moves updates…

“RHP Jacob deGrom (right UCL repair surgery)
Expected return: After the All-Star break
deGrom said he threw off a mound for the first time on June 17. His bullpen session included about 15 pitches, all fastballs.

“I’m feeling really good,” deGrom said. “[The bullpen] went really well, so one day at a time. I’ve got two more times this week and then just keep moving forward. I definitely want to be out there. That's the hardest thing, you want to be out there competing. But I've been through this before, so I knew what to expect and it was a long road. The main thing was just trying to be smart, not doing too much. We've been sticking to the program. Everything has felt good along the way.”

He began playing catch on Feb. 12 and resumed again on the first official day of spring workouts on Feb. 14 -- just under eight months after surgery to repair a torn right UCL that ended his 2023 season. It was the second similar operation for the 35-year-old deGrom, who had Tommy John surgery following his first professional season in 2010.

General manager Chris Young pointed out that timelines are fluid when it comes to injuries, but he also said the ace is progressing well in his rehab with an eye on returning around August.

deGrom was officially transferred to the 60-day injured list on March 22. (Last updated: June 17)”

I think it will all depend on how we are looking in the playoff race. If we continue this hot streak after the all star break then yeah we will see him early August. Otherwise, if we are still far back in the playoff race, then I don't see why they would bring him back this year. It would be huge though if we continue this hot streak AND we get deGrom/Mahle/Jung/Bradford back

Been mighty quiet from the Rangers contingent compared to last season.

You mean last season when they won the World Series? What a weird trash talk post.

No doubt. Carter, too. Would love to see Adolis catch fire as well. Luckily the west is fairly mid this year. Seattle should settle back but I expect the Astros to be right there at the end. Gonna be fun.
