Sharp electrical jolt in foot.

Started today, but every two hours or so I get An excruciating, electrical shock type pain from the top of my left foot running down to the bottom of my arch. (Think shoe laces to sole) It only lasts 5 seconds or so but the pain level will bring me to the ground. It is what I imagine getting struck by lightening would feel like.
Anybody experience this? What was it and what helped?

I would stop walking barefoot on 220 Volt electric lines.

You’ve got the aids

Sounds like the start of neuropathy.

Hopefully not, but that’s the same initial thought I had.
Father in law has it from Agent Orange in Vietnam. It’s spread from his feet, up his calf’s and is now in both hands and forearms. It’s terrible to say but I don’t think there’s much they can do to help. Go get checked out.

Yes, I've had a pinched nerve that was similar but not that painful. There's a term for it I cant remember, but could be the same.

Sciatica from an extruded disc is no joke. I couldn’t walk 25 feet without my right leg feeling like it was on fire. Sequestered my L5/S1 and L4/L5 from a car accident

Sorry meant to reply to you. See my above post. The term I may be thinking of is - nerve entrapment - maybe?

It could just be gout. I say “just” because although it’s excruciatingly painful, it can be cured fairly easily.
Although your description of the pain doesn’t exactly match what gout feels like.

You haven't by any chance wronged any Haitian women of late, have you?

Stress fracture maybe?

Probably radiculopathy (pinched nerve in low back). Neuropathy is usually on both sides and usually starts more insidiously. Worth seeing pcp for some PT etc.
If you develop weakness or bowel/bladder problems need to be seen more quickly.

Pinch nerve in spine or sciatica is my guess

Had/ have the same thing. Doc said it was “neuroma’(not neuropathy)- basically damaged nerves from abusing my feet for many years (Army). Episodic cortisone shots do the trick. Talk to a foot doctor.
