A choice of Baums or Delmont?
Give me Delmont. Delmont with the Chocolate Doberge Cake or the Italian Cream Cake. An the Petit Fours, for me it was more of a Petit 8 or more.
A choice of Tony's Donuts or Jays Donuts?
I'll take Tony's. But Jays are not far behind.
If we start talking Restaurants, Giamanco's was a good one, Steak, Seafood or Italian, my go to restaurant. The dessert's were first class!
I miss those places, would like to go back in time.

Have to go w Baums. Baums baked Hawaiian Sweet rolls before they were a thing. Mom picked those up every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Agree w Tonys - their donuts were the shite.
Also, agree w Giamancos. that was my go-to birthday dinner growing up. Always sat in Ms Dixie's section. RIP.

All those Ladies dressed up, very attentive and helpful. Like I said, let's go back in time.
The greasy back from Tony's. A honey bun.

Baums with the lemon doberge cake
Posted on 6/26/24 at 12:19 pm to wickowick
Baum's was supposed to do our wedding cake. Venue coordinated with them to provide it, all we had to do was provide a headcount and come test flavors. A few weeks after that, the Baton Rouge sub reddit posted the video of the rat carcasses all throughout their prep room/kitchen. I called our wedding venue to see if they heard about all that. Within the day Baum's shut down. I was pretty bummed because the flavors were great, but we ended up going with another bakery with about 3 months until the wedding.
IIRC, the supposed disgruntled employee was possibly a janitor? Which would sort of be a video of them showing how bad they are at cleaning, but how the heck to rats get into your building in the first place?

Baum’s bakes with butter and butter makes the difference.
I still remember that slogan from years ago.

I remember it also, but Delmont had the best! I didn't get this fat sucking my thumb.

I have purchased two birthday cakes and cupcakes from them this year…when I walked in the little shop the first time it was an instant flashback to Baums just from the fragrance. Everything I have had has been great. I havent had doberge yet, but they looked right!

Baum’s baked big Italian bread boules and fresh French bread that my father picked up 2 or 3 times a week and it was great bread. When I was about 12 for some reason they quit. Never since then have we in Baton Rouge been able to get a good fresh baked loaf of bread.
Which is why I started baking sourdough breads and they are amazing. Better than my youth and I don’t have to drive to New Orleans to get it.

Albertsons has some great fresh French bread made daily.
Posted on 7/7/24 at 2:31 pm to Paul Allen
Albertsons French bread is frozen dough as is Whole Foods who also uses vinegar as their sourdough.
So no. They don’t have fresh French bread made daily.
But I wouldn’t expect someone with profound intellectual disabilities to know the difference.
