Nearly half of American owners of electric cars want to switch back to traditional cars powered by internal combustion engines, according to a consumer survey released by McKinsey and Co. earlier this month.
quote:
The consulting firm surveyed consumers in multiple countries: the U.S., China, Germany, Norway, Australia, France, Italy, Japan and Brazil. Between all of those countries, 29% of electric car owners want to return to driving internal combustion cars, with 46% of surveyed American electric car owners wanting to do so.
quote:
Among the owners surveyed who are planning to switch back, 35% cited the lack of charging infrastructure, 34% said the costs were too high, 32% said planning long driving trips was too difficult, 24% said they could not currently charge at home, 21% said worrying about charging was too stressful and 13% said they did not enjoy how the cars felt while driving.
quote:
Only 9% of drivers across all countries surveyed said that current charging infrastructure was sufficient to meet their needs. While some electric car drivers want to switch back, 38% of internal combustion car drivers surveyed said they are considering buying a battery-powered or plug-in hybrid electric car as their next vehicle.
quote:
Among drivers who plan on sticking with gas-powered cars, 45% said that electric cars were too expensive, 33% cited charging concerns and 29% cited concerns about the range an electric car would have before needing to be recharged.
quote:
The economic situation in the U.S. is also changing consumer behavior when it comes to electric cars. Among U.S. respondents, 44% said they were very likely to postpone buying an electric car, and 58% said they were very likely to keep holding on to their current car no matter the type.

We need to get Trump back in the White House so that he can reverse all of these ridiculous EV mandates.

All the problems with EVs was known when these people bought them.
Did they just get caught up in the hype or not think it through?

Decisions based on feelings

Put this in the no big surprise category.

Similarly, 46% of those who had add-a-part or subtract-a-part surgery to flip genders want to go back to their original gender. My guess is it’s the same 46% as the EV flippers.

IMHO there are two likely primary reasons:
1 - the early adopters of EVs were the Dems target audience - folks that want to virtue signal their allegiance to leftist causes and didn't apply any logic to the decision.
2 - the FedGov's tax incentives for buying EVs - yet another instance of FedGov using taxpayer $$ for social engineering - should be illegal.

It’s people who sniff their own farts and virtue signal.
I do think some people like to just be first adopters of new tech. But one guy I knew that did this went back to an ice.

And the other 54% are just too ashamed to admit it

I don't own an EV, and part of the reason is that I don't want to have to stop twice to recharge when I'm on a road trip to visit family or going on vacation.

Morning National News was warning EV owners that hot weather decreased the milage as well as cold weather.
Saw a couple of News stories last week. The owner/driver was locked in her car when there was a malfunction in the accessory battery, There is an emergency unlock mechanism but she had not read her auto manual.
Another got out of her car and the door locked. Her baby was inside in a car seat. The unlock mechanism malfunctioned and she called the rescue squad , who broke a window to rescue her baby.

This is wild. Who buys an EV without home charging as an option?

Depending on the make and model, they’re a blast to drive.
I can’t imagine owning only an EV, but in a multi-car home I have really enjoyed mine. I wouldn’t choose to take it on long family trips though. But it’s a fantastic commuter vehicle and good for day trips.
