Terrible idea. That is one of the few genuinely perfect movies. I can't see how it could be made better. Obviously just a cash grab but I dunno that's one they need to just leave alone

It’ll be reimagined:
On his way to school, Bastian dips into a bookstore to avoid racists. Sneaking away with a book called "The Neverending Story," Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Blackasia, a fantasy land threatened by "The Supremacy," a white colonialism that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Blackasia is real and needs him to fully actualize as the woman he was born to become.

I mean, I love that movie but it’s fairly objectively terrible on its face. And I watched it as recently as this past week. It’s more nostalgia than anything as to why it’s considered good now IMO.

Another fantastic opportunity to intersect establishment literature and cinema with the black queer diaspora. I’m really hoping they take full advantage of this, especially in such troubling times
