I have had one hen with about 6. I am afraid the wet May might have hurt the hatch a lot. Hope I am wrong

A turkey hunter told me up here in (N.Alabama) they were too busy eating Cicada to mate.
I'd be surprised biased on personal bias.

We’ve seen about 30 poults in Wilkinson county among my neighbors and family. Stay away.

I ran over a nest a couple of months ago trying to get my dove field ready. 9 eggs total and 5 were broken.
The remaining 4 I gave to my neighbors who had an incubator. All 4 hatched and have done well.
Nothing other than that though.

Haven’t seen any yet. Not to hijack the thread but I read in the 24/25 regs we are no longer allowed to take jakes. I don’t typically shoot them myself, more of a heads up to the turkey hunters here.

Why would anyone over 18 want to shoot a Jake anyway?

We’ve dropped the hammer on over 60 coons and 200 hogs in the last year. Hopefully this hatch brings us back to the days of old

Saw about 15 or so while riding around the lease a couple of weeks ago

Saw a momma turkey with 3 chicks crossing the road in Kisatchie yesterday.

Could be their first turkey, could be they like the way turkeys taste, I’m not one to judge. That wasn’t a post to discuss elitist ethics, just a heads up.

I only have 3 cameras running right now and haven’t seen any babies, even with plenty of adults.
We need to pop some coons as well, but beavers have been a higher priority.

I saw 1 hen with about 4 poults in my pasture in North Alabama. I haven’t checked my cameras in a while though.

There are rare cases. I brought my dad to Kansas( 72 years old) this past year and he's never killed a turkey. He ended up killing a long beard but I can guarantee you if the first bird I called up was a Jake he would have shot it.
