I think there may be four potential bigs available around where we draft:

1. Wa're from IU .... a lot like Derek Lively - excellent offensive rebounder put back and lob kind of guy. Above average defender. Not a strong shooter from eight feet or longer.

2. Missi .. strong upside, athlete, but seems limited offensively at this point.

3. Draftnet has us taking Edey. Interesting pick if he is still available. A little too slow for my tastes, but has improved each year.

4. Flip. The most multiskilled of them all. I believe the best fit if we stick with Zion.

Thoughts ? Thanks in advance for sharing - and have a great day,.

There isn't a big that will be there at #21 that should be able to play minutes for us next season (if they did, we'd be in big trouble). I like our formula of taking established players with accomplished college careers. So I'd go Edey, if he's there. Project with an opportunity to become a specialist. I could see him in the two deep by year 2.

I don't mind the others as projects too. But I don't want anyone that needs to develop their bodies, or are underweight. I'm tired of fitness related threads..

I'm good with any of those 4 honestly. Ware gets me the most excited of the group though.

I just can't get excited about this draft because I keep thinking we won't be making a pick for ourselves at 21. We will see.

If we are right before the draft and there is not a rumor in sight, I will believe it. Maybe.

He’s also my first choice. I think he will be gone by then. I’ve seen a few mock drafts with us getting Missi, which wouldn’t be bad pick.

It’s a crapshoot with big men. You never know how they will develop when drafted so young. I like Edeys skill and his size as a rotation big. And gm’s love potential so players like him always get pushed down, which could benefit us.

The pro comparison to Edey was JV and the comparison to Missi is Nic Claxton who we are rumored to be after.,

Yeah I wouldn't understand drafting Edey for this reason. If we feel like JV isn't a great fit, don't draft his replica.

Missi is a defensive freak, which we will probably need with Wemby in our division.

He is but I don't see him being a win now prospect.

I kinda feel like the Pels definitely want to win now, wouldn't you say?

What kind of “win now” prospects are at 21 to begin with?

Bigs and points take a while to develop and those are the positions we need the most.

Unless we are just loading up on shooters for the frick of it, I don’t see this pick being “win now” short of trading them.

None, which is why I question whether they even use this pick on themselves

To follow your question further, what teams are looking for talent to develop who have win now players they can move?

Brooklyn comes to mind if we are doing a Claxton sign and trade. Who else?

Or there may be 1. We have no clue. It will legit be "best available" and no one knows who that even is. Will be a very interesting draft on how the talent is evaluated.

Excellent points BRMark....thanks for sharing. Definitely see you point about projects. And your thoughts on Edey are intriguing.

Interesting comment, Fun Bunch ,... what do you think we should do with the pick ? If we don't use it, who or what would you want in return ?

Thanks for sharing - and have a great day !

I was always a jv fan. I think our coaches are dumasses for not using him correctly. Edey woukd still bring value to the team when Zion sits or we use him like we did JV but for a much cheaper costs as a rotation big.
