New to investing... should I buy Nvidia now? Or what's another good stock to sink $5k into

I've got $5k+ I can invest. I've never invested on my own before, just 401k etc. And I don't know much about the stock market other than buy low sell high.
So Nvidia is at like $130 a share right now. Should I buy $5k worth and just hold? I can withstand dips and stuff?

VOO…and hold for a few years.

I would put like $250 per week into a roth IRA until you put the entire amount, just because the market seems so high right now to me.
Depending on your risk tolerance I would do something like 50/50 in VOO & QQQ, or for lower risk 80/20 VOO - QQQ.

Dont pick individual stocks. Even pros have hard time beating the market and you realize you dont have a clue what you're doing.
Buy index ETFs and hold long term. VOO (S&P500) or VTI (Total US market) are good choices.

I have no clue what I’m talking about, but it seems like it’s a hot stock that is completely overvalued and will eventually settle at a high, but more reasonable cap. It’s kind of like when Tesla hit the trillion dollar mark. At that point, people loved the stock more than the company

Buy it and dont look back
Also you can buy the fund XLK which is a fund of tech stocks.

What typically happens to companies after they become the most valuable in the world?
Most businesses who became the most valuable company were fairly diversified... Does NVidia have a diverse enough business to stay up there? Or is the demand for the product just so great that it should stay at that level or increase as time goes on?
Not trying to make a statement either way, I want to generate discussion. There are good arguments for both. The market is also "due for a correction", but that gets said any time its been up for a while.

QQQ has mostly tech and will give some diversity.
Otherwise, consult your crystal ball.

NVIDIA not looking good today

Nvda is still a good long term hold. But you should be able to get it for less than $120 in the near future.

It could be a good long-term hold.

nvidia literally held the S&P flat this morning, then took the S&P down when it dropped

I shoulda bought puts when I posted
Nvda is the only thing holding up the market. If it crashes so does everything else

With that amount of money, I'd invest in an ETF or Mutual Fund that has a high concentration of NVDA.
Personally, after much research, I added Fidelity Select Semiconductors Portfolio (FSELX) for some tech exposure. It has 28%.
Other ways to invest in NVDA (from my Fidelity Research):
Fund Name Exposure % to NVDA
NVDX T-Rex 2X Long NVIDIA Daily Target ETF 82.68%
WUGI AXS Esoterica NextG Economy ETF 31.07%
SHOC Strive U.S. Semiconductor ETF 30.21%
SMH VanEck Semiconductor ETF 23.34%
I'm particularly watching SMH right now.
