Here is a link to an awesome night in Tiger Stadium that I’ll never forget. Oranges were flying…
LSU vs FSU in ‘82
Edit: if you want to see what Dalton was like at LSU, go to the 1:43:00 mark and watch a couple minutes. He is one of the best backs to ever play here. Damn sure top 5.

Cannon - Heisman
Stovall - 2nd in Heisman
Faulk
Fournette
Hilliard

Collins
Casanova could have been unreal had he stuck with it.

I was at both games, it was like night and day. Reginelli had a night. LSU was sleep walking through that game.

Throwing oranges at the Florida State bench as a kid will always be memory I treasure.

Yep. Our oranges were full of vodka. Sucked them dry and then threw them.

Yeah you’re right. LSU was a HUGE favorite too.
I remember being pissed at him for that game and now I remember. He was the freaking OC and his arse was leaving for Appi St so everyone blamed Mack but the defense couldn’t stop them and there were zero adjustments so it wasn’t just the offense.
It was a difficult run from 79-82 versus the greenies. We scored 55 the week before on FSU and went up on those bastards but couldn’t stop them when we needed to and just crapped it away on offense.

I think a thick blanket of fog moved into the stadium in the 2nd half. Made it difficult to see across the stadium.

Yep. Was up late against Tennessee, but wound up a tie. 3 pt loss as a heavy favorite against Mississippi State, 3 pt loss as a heavy favorite to Tulane, and was up on Nebraska by 10 points before losing by 1 point. Eight (8) points TOTAL separated LSU from an undefeated season.

Doesnt seem to make sense to say this about an 8-3-1 team, but that might have been our best squad of the last 30 years of the century. Absolutely dominating defense, right up there with the '03 and '11 team, a veteran QB in RIsher and Hilliard and James as freshman RB's. Destroyed both Bama and Florida State and beat a very good Florida team on the road. shite the bed at home in a tie against Tenn and the Tulane loss. Inexplicable loss at Miss State. Without looking it up, pretty sure we were double digit favorites in all three of those games. Nebraska was probably the best team in the country that year, and lost to them by 1 in the Orange Bowl.
