Battery powered weed eater rec's

Tired of the old gas powered weed eater. More trouble than it is worth.
Looking at a DeWalt battery-powered one, a person I know has one and swears by it.
This just for around the homestead, nothing major.
Any recommendations?

I like my Worx LINK . It is a heavy duty model and I also have the blade attachment for it. The batteries will work on a lot of other lawn and garden items plus tools.

That would be my choice followed by Stihl or maybe Echo but grudgingly. I bought my dad a 58V Echo trimmer a few years ago, great performer with a SpeedFeed head but quickly killed a bearing in the gearbox at the trimmer head. I replaced it with a new bearing and it's worked fine since but Echo changed their battery system and orphaned the entire line. So now it's a wasted investment once the battery dies.

I’ve had both Kobalt 80v and Ego 56v. I’m not sure which I prefer.
Kobalt’s battery lasts longer but restringing can be a PITA. If you don’t clean out the head every once in a while it can get dunked up and it won’t let out strong easy or reload easily.
Ego’s battery doesn’t last as long but the power load feature is a game changer. I just got this one so time will tell if has the same gunk issue.

EGO or Greenworks. EGO has a multi-head system where you can swap the string trimmer for stuff like a edger, hedge trimmer, pole saw, cultivator, to name a few. A bit pricier.
You can also find combo deals for a basic trimmer and cordless blower (around 530 CFM) that does light work.

Have EGO trimmer and blower. Really like them. Plenty of battery for my yard. Power load spool on the trimmer is awesome.

I've had the Ego blower for awhile and had also been looking at Ego string trimmers since I'm in the ecosystem. Amazon dropped the the price of the Ego 16" ST1623T with the auto feed for the line, no bumping, and powered string winding a few weeks ago. It was $229 w/ 4ah battery so I ordered it. I now use the 4ah battery in the blower and my old 2.5ah in the trimmer. Only used it twice so far but I'm impressed. The line auto feed is cool and works well, although it can be a wtf moment when it happens if you aren't expecting it.

I did the same thing. It's easier to use the weed eater with the smaller battery.
That being said, I would suggest OP get nothing lower than 56V if they want actual power. I know some folks here have some 20V/40V options but IMO, it's a lot less more beneficial to spend a little extra for the stronger equipment.

I got tired of fricking with my Stihl string trimmer and bought a battery powered Ego last year. I have been so happy with it that I bought a battery powered chainsaw a couple of months ago. The 56V batteries are interchangeable. I can’t speak to the longevity of the batteries, but I can say both are exactly what I was looking for.

Whatever you buy, get 2 batteries,,,,,and actual battery tinme is 1/2 of what they advertise!
I bought the EGO, so far so good, battery weakens over time is my only complaint.

Ego. 100% recommend from me
I’ve bought blower, string trimmer and multi head trimmer. I’ve had them all for about 3-4 years and batteries are still doing great. I’ve had a total of 1 issue with the entire setup. My multi head trimmer which I use mostly as an edger, won’t immediately restart if I completely stop it. I either have to u click the battery and reattach it or let it sit for about 20 seconds. It’s actually pretty minor, I just keep the edger running when I move from spot to spot.
The power output is plenty for my 2 acre yard. I can weed, edge, and blow off the concrete on the 5 ah and 2.5 ah batteries I have.

Although I got the ego 56v, I moved that one to our farm (heavier weeds) The 20V dewalt is providing more than adequate service on our half acre home in town. But If you can get the 15" ego and blower combo for 179, I'd go that way, the ego blower cuts the blowing time in half compared to the dewalt.

I have an 56v EGO trimmer and blower that use the same battery/charger. They have been a game changer for me. No more mixing oul and gas, endlessly pulling start cords, or cleaning carbs every year.

I've got the Ryobi 40v mower, blower, chainsaw, and weed eater. They all work great. Extremely happy with them.

I was already invested in the Makita LXT battery line, so I opted for their power head, string trimmer and edger attachments.
Pricey, but they work great.

If you ever consider the Makita push mower they are rated tops in the industry.
