They say the signs (these and 'no cruising' signs) were put up years ago by the community to prevent gay behavior. I'm not sure if that's even true, but after seeing a few pride parade highlights, I'm all for it.

Apparently, when gheys were cruising back in the day, they would drive down a strip, make a U-turn, and drive down the other side of the street, make another U-turn. They'd keep doing Uturns until they found another ghey to frick.
So, in order to stop all of the gheyness, the city put "No U-turn" signs. Obviously, such oppressive measures did not work, but the gheys never forget, and they now have righted past wrongs.
