ISO an Edger. What Should I buy?

I have an Echo weedeater. I Have owned it for about 10 years. Maybe a little longer than that & absolutely no issues with it. I have always used it as my edging tool. I am going to be moving and I have a lot more edging to do there so I want to get a dedicated edger. Do I get Echo? Stihl? Shindaiwa? Electric? TIA

If it's legitimately a lot of edging, I'd want something like this.
But I have the Echo powerhead, so I as bale to just buy the edger attachment to go with the weedeater.

I just sold my ego edger attachment. It was just too light for me. Rather use the string trimmer.

I have a 60V Greenworks edger and I just use my Echo weedeater. Much faster.

I was previously using a plug-in Black and Decker edger and it took me 30 minutes to do my long driveway and sidewalk. I got the Ego to match my blower and weedeater. It takes 5 minutes and I have to hold that son-of-a-bitch back. It's 10x more powerful than the plugin model I had. Very easy for me to switch between the Ego string trimmer, edger and blower. Really sped up the process. I've never been particularly great at using the string trimmer for edging. It looks like a DIY haircut.

If you can edge it a good bit and stay on top of it with a string trimmer, it'll be fine. Problem is when it overgrows, you go through way too much string.

I have a Husqvarna from Lowes and it has been great with no issues for about 5 years now. You can run with that thing if you want. Minimal space in garage as I hang it on the wall next to trimmer.

Get an Echo stick edger, PE-2620 is a great machine and the Shindaiwa 262 is a carbon copy so go with either for whichever you find cheaper. I have Stihl Kombi systems and they've worked great for years too but no sense in switching to a brand just for one piece of equipment.

String trimmer handles anything a power edger can.

My problem with my current setup is it already shuts down if I have it rotated too long doing the edging. it's more of a 1st world problem, I also like the the look of a fresh edge with a legit edger. I can at times get a little off line and go too far in and I don't get the straight line I want. I am going to have a lot more driveway and sidewalk edging at new house (corner lot). I think I'm going to go with Echo edger. Also going to check out the electric options mentioned.

I have an echo pe-225. Yeah you can get an “acceptable” edge with a string trimmer but with an edger you can walk and hold it one handed and get the most crisp edge you can imagine.
The wall behind ones are so over rated. I used one for years that I inherited and when I switched to a pole edger I realized how much of a hassle the walk behind was having to lug it around and store it. Plus tough to edge tight or uneven edges.

If you’re located in or around south Louisiana I’d sell you mine because I want to get an ego edger to match my trimmer and blower for no other reason than I store my current edger in my shed with the gas and I store my electric stuff in the garage #i’mlazy. Looks like I bought it 2 years ago. I’d make you a deal and it would give me an excuse to get that electric one, lol.

Jokes aside, I general edge 2-3 times a year. Once real good at the beginning of the mowing season and another time mid way through. The rest of the year I maintain with the weedeater.
Mainly just use the edger to get a good "trench" started.

You'll feel the exact same way about your echo edger when you buy it.
A Stihl, Shindawa, or an electric option like Milwaukee or EGO would probably be perfectly fine too, but you can't go wrong with an echo. It's all I've used for 10+ years and I can't see myself ever changing.

I bought my mom a Troy Bilt one like this. One where you could put a drill bit in the head and pull the trigger and it would crank it. It's pretty nice. She loved doing the yard and using a regular edger was starter to be too hard. This was perfect.
She passed away

I think I'd like it better if I had a longer driveway and no curb.

I asked a similar question a few years ago. Was going to get the Echo PE-2620, but found a deal on the PE-225 so got that instead. I have to edge a couple of yards with it every time I cut grass and it's been working fine. I have no regrets for not getting the professional version.

Echo pe-225 owned it around 15 years no problems.
Change the blade every year and edging is super fast.

I have a Mclane edger that I bought from the local Ace Hardware. I paid 399 for mine but damn those things are high today.
