In a sweeping change that could improve millions of Americans’ ability to own a home or buy a car, the Biden administration will propose a rule Tuesday to ban medical debt from credit reports.

The rule, which will be announced by Vice President Kamala Harris and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra, comes as President Joe Biden beefs up his efforts to convince Americans his administration is lowering costs, a chief concern for voters in the upcoming election.

Why bother having health insurance or even trying to pay your medical bills? Big step moving us closer to socialized medicine.

Yeah. SCOTUS did no one any favors when they didn't kill that fricking monster in its crib.

Honestly, I’m ok with this for real medical issues/procedures. However, elective surgeries should not be covered by this rule.

And y’all are complaining? Y’all ever seen the medical bills from surviving cancer? Some would rather have died than be on the hook for $125,000. Complain all y’all want, this drives a deep nail into big pharma.

The money they avoid spending due to dying while waiting in line to receive services that are being received by the rich in their country who fly to America to receive it timely.

Not allowing creditors to see someone’s debt. What could go wrong?

Wrong, raising prices will just cause fewer people to pay since there's no penalty.

Preventative/elective care services get dropped instead. Or you can get it done by Dr. Shady who goes around the system

So if I put all my doctor bills on credit cards and don't pay the credit cards I'll have good credit?

Next Up:

"In a broad, bold move, the Biden Administration will unveil a package of reforms aimed at reducing debt to some Americans. All medical debt will be cancelled, effectively immediately, to certain classes of voters, er, mean mean citizens".

I would agree if we weren't already such an insanely debt-riddled society. LINK

Anything which makes it easier for that to increase is something I'm against just as a basic tenet. I get it that there are emergencies and people need to be able to access funds to make it through those times, but the truth of the matter is that acting like their medical debt doesn't exist puts the lending institutions at greater risk for failure. In a society so dependent on debt-leveraging, that would be catastrophic.

American health care is screwed up so bad it’s ridiculous. They pass laws that make it easier for ambulance chasers to sue for damages, existent or not. Allow pharma companies to use public colleges to do research ( public money mostly) while lobbying politicians that drive up costs to people. Disallow insurance companies to be competitive across state lines while allowing infinite amounts of non insurance holders that are never going to pay hospitals or free healthcare outright for illegal aliens.

And in Ontario, you got a lot of time to ponder that as you sit on your bad wheel waiting 800 days to get your knee replaced.
