My Non Political review of Civil War.

Boring as frick The Jesse Plemmons scene was by far the best and he out shined the entire cast. I honestly don’t understand the buzz behind this film. It was boring as frick.

I enjoyed it, but it didn’t feel like the movie that was marketed to me.

why would the president just be inside the white house like that.. they have tunnels and bunkers for shite like this. Dumb as frick. The writer wrote a good first half then needed an ending and threw some bullshite together real fast.
Lastly, people were just shooting tons of ammo all over the place like it didn't matter. You would definitely need to conserve ammo out in the wild like that fighting to survive.

I agree. The firearms training for most people must come from watching Star Wars. Please aim first. The worst thing that I see in movies is someone dodging shots after they have been fired.

The fact that the makers tried very hard to steer clear of making a political statement actually hurt the movie, IMO. How about an explanation for why California and Texas had an alliance? You could still stay balanced, and let each side explain their position within the movie.
This was just a story about the journalists only, and could have been set against any civil strife background - Central America, The Spanish civil war, Iranian Revolution, etc. All that being said, i liked it OK, but it could have been so much better.

In an earlier post about this movie I mentioned if this movie does well, there could be a prequel based on the actions leading up to this movie. I got many down votes and BS for that thought.
In the lobby after the movie someone reminded me even though Cali is liberal they have many military bases and naval ports, some that house aircraft carriers. And Texas has a large national guard.

I haven't watch it yet but I bet it romanticized journalists. The media had taken such a huge hit on their reputations lately. Maybe this movie is to get people to trust them again.

Was ok.. the focus on the journalists was a bit much. It was completely unrealistic that three journalists would be allowed in the final push. They were in the way causing danger to the soldiers.., and none had a video camera I believe. Hell, the guy just wanted to ask questions.

In World War II the estimate was 45,000 bullets per kill and Vietnam was 50,000 bullets per kill.
Those are American counts; I believe the overall in WWII was closer to 100,000 per kill.
250,000 per kill is insane, when you consider that one of those was in a freaking jungle and we were 5 times more efficient.

If politics are not a deciding factor, then a California-Texas merger makes a lot of sense from a purely logistical point of view:
Both have tons of farm land and cattle. Food is not a concern.
Texas grants access to ports in the Gulf of Mexico (and therefor the Atlantic) while California grants access to the Pacific.
As you noted, California (in this What If scenario) gets access to a huge chunk of the Navy while Texas' National Guard grants them access to a large land-based military.
Both states are among the most self-sufficient from a purely money into the Federal Government vs money from the Federal Government (both putting more in than they receive).
Oil and Natural Gas are abundant resources now.
While there's only the Mississippi River blocking access to the eastern section of this merged entity, California has a good chunk blocked by the Rockies. If the remaining US were to recombine and invade, Texas could retreat back and the route would take them through territory they control (Arizona and New Mexico)
In a purely hypothetical, politics-free scenario, a merger between the two would instantly create one of the top 5 economic powerhouses in the world.

Imo, these deep level hypotheticals about the war are exactly why they kept them out of the movie entirely. Distracts from what the goal and point of view the movie was aiming to cover. War is ugly on all sides and there is no good and bad, just blood and terror.
