Old or mediocre bands that never stop touring

One of the wildest things to me is that most bands who get a tiny dose of fame never stop touring and sometimes never stop making new music. It's one thing for acts like Garth Brooks, Journey, Rolling Stones because icons. But then you go a few layers down:
Hinder, the brains being Lips of an Angel? Still touring
Lou Bega? Still touring
Trapt-- the quintessential mediocre new rock band of the 2000's? Still touring.
Crash Test Dummies, The Calling, Sum 41? All still touring.
It's insane to me how long these guys get paid riding out songs from 20 years ago and not get tired of it. I wonder how much of it is love for music, how much is thinking they can still make a comeback, and how much is just no better way to earn a living at that point.

I think most of them enjoy what they are doing

I’m mediocre at my job, but I still keep punching the clock every day.

Sum 41 a mediocre band? They are calling it quits after this year though

Great White was still touring in 2003. They were still hot and setting the stage on fire 20 years after they first got popular.

What else are they going to do? They're not going to quit and be accountants. If fans still want to see them, no reason why they shouldn't still tour. There's plenty of bands I would jump at the chance to go see again, or for the first time.

Great White
But if people are still paying money to go see bands like that why should they stop touring

Most people work 30-40 years. Mediocre musicians are no different.

Was never much of a Great White fan. Saw them open for Whitesnake in 1988.

Musicians rock as long as they can before they have to get a day job. Most are not making a ton of money but they enjoy it.

They probably still like playing music, making some money off of it, and don’t have many other marketable skills

Sum 41 draws big crowds. I'm sure the others are still touring because they're making money at it.

I said this about The Black Crowes when they got back together in 2020.
It was either Chris/Rich make up or they had to get jobs at Home Depot.

They aren’t set for life from the one moderate hit 20 years ago? Bros still have bills to pay.

You might be amazed to find out that these bands still have fans and make enough money to tour and do what they love.

They have bills to pay just like the rest of us. I would think a lot of the acts you listed are making more money than they would if they were to go get a "normal" job.
I also worked with a guy in the 80s who was related to Peabon Bryson. He told me that every time ANY of his songs played on the radio anywhere in the country he was paid a royalty. He got a check quarterly. It was only a few cents per play, but add up all the times a song is played nationwide over 3 months.
If you have any hits at all, that would be a nice sum, I imagine. By continuing to tour, you keep your name and hit songs in the public conscience, and the money flowing also.
