I’m looking for a truck, but I’m not an OT baller and can’t afford a new truck, but am looking for something 2019 or newer.

I know GM trucks have had a transmission issue in the past where when they hit 100,000 miles they go out, mostly from a bad torque converter.

If you own one what has been your experience with it? I did a search and didn’t find a topic on this.

My 21 has 55k on it and the only issue was a tire pressure sensor went out while going down the road. About a mile later I hit a bump and it’s been fine since, that was last year sometime.

My grandpa has a 19 and around 15k miles, it was clunky while shifting and driving like shite. Transmission had to be “reprogrammed”

ETA: I do not baby this truck in the slightest bit. It’s been a great truck so far.

I had a 2019 Silverado sold it to my son and he’s still driving it with no issues I think it has around 70-80k miles on it now.
I’m driving a 22 now so far no issues but it has the 10speed transmission.

Nothing too serious: replace engine top end and transmixer by about 100k on average.

Have a 2024 2500hd gas. So far so good but it’s only got 2500 miles on it. Traded in a 2010 1500 with 200k. First year of this new “Allison” transmission so keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a 2020 Sierra 1500 with 5.3 and 8 Speed. Had my torque converter changed out at 60,000 miles. Up to 87k miles now and no issue since then. Also, from time to time at random times the infotainment will go out and come back on, sometimes when you restart it, other times after a day or 2.

I pull my bayboat with it without any issues and I get about 23.5 MPG driving back and forth to work.

2022 2500 owner and have been extremely pleased with it. Also one son owns a 2016 1500 with about 70K miles and another owns a 2020 Colorado with 50K miles. No issues with either of their vehicles. Our family likes the Chevy truck.

I have a ne body style 2019 with the 5.3 V8 and 8 speed transmission. 55K miles currently and it's been flawless. Tows my 6500lb boat no problem and averages 19MPG city/highway (not towing obviously)

Just traded in my 2019 Sierra SLT with 55k miles for a new GMC Canyon AT4. The Sierra had the 5.3 with 8 speed, 4WD.

No issues with it at all. You’ll read a lot of complaints about the transmission. Early in production, it was the wrong fluid and programming, primarily the 8sp. But later models also had issues and even the 10sp.

Used trucks are cheaper than new, but still very expensive. I think I paid around $45k ($15k off MSRP) back in 2019. I traded it in for $35k in 2024. It’ll probably be listed for around $43k. But a new truck with similar options is now $65-70k.

Have a 2019 with around 50K. Z71, Very good truck.

Lot of people I know have got the AFM disabler that plugs in to cancel out the changing from 4 to 8 cylinders. This causes all kinds of motor and transmission issues on some of these trucks.

2020 1500 Z71 RST - 5.3l. with 50 K miles. The only repair I have done on it is a squeaky pulley on the front. Warranty..

Getting 17 driving around and 20 on the highway if I keep it under 80

Like it so far. Its my first Chevy truck. I drove a 2004 Tahoe for 16 years and loved it

Anyone have experience dealing with one of the Bomnin Chevrolet dealerships near Miami? They always seem to have the best prices posted online, but I came across a forum with a few bad reviews.

2020 Silverado 1500 5.3l rst- 70k miles, just got it out the shop Friday the water pump failed. Radio went out two weeks ago. Thinking of trading it in before something worse happens. Extended warranty until 100k miles but I don’t like having to pay for rentals and tow bills and whatever isn’t covered under the extended warranty(belts, hoses, etc.)

My brother had a 2020 Silverado, transmission(10 speed) went out at 75,000 miles. At 125,000 miles started acting up again. Traded it in for a Ford 150. I have a 2018 Sierra and the transmission(6 speed) started acting up at about 100,000 miles, dealer said it normally shifts like that. 160,000 miles went out, now at 200,000 miles, it doing the same thing the other transmission did. May trade it in too. Also it needs a water pump every 70,000 miles.
I was told that the Ford and Chevy both uses the same 10 speed transmission(don't know who makes it for them) and my friend 10 speed 2021 F150 been thru 3 transmission before 150,000 miles.
