Thoughts on this Doobie Brothers song?

I’ve always been a fan of the band, but this has got to be one of my favorites! It’s fast and just hits you out of the gate. Has some of their best sounds and Johnston nails it. Thoughts?

Too bubblegum for me. Nothing from the DBs hits like "Long Train Running."

It rocks me.....rocks me a little while.

Reminds me of my days at Kenilworth Junior High. However, still to this day, I hate the song Black Water.

Same here. It's got that ugly, '70s sound to me.

Me too, I don't know how that song ever got airplay.

Not one of my favorites but still better than anything in the present top 40.

China Grove for the win.

My favorite too.
It's got a really nice brief bridge that works so well.

You could have saved me a click and put the song title instead of "LINK"...like this...
Take Me In Your Arms
Not their best

Best Doobie Brothers song is Another Park, Another Sunday.

Great song. I love the Doobie Brothers. Although I must say I am partial to their music before Michael McDonald. Fond memories of growing up in the 70s while listening to the Doobies!

I'm not a huge Doobie Brothers fan but Toulouse Street is their best song..And I'm not biased because I'm a "Yat."...

Related post for the gear heads ...
Bought this 2005ish Fulltone Choralflange last year from one of my good pals in Phoenix. On tour, he is Patrick Simmons's guitar tech and away from the stage, he is PS's brother-in-law.
Before I got it, this pedal resided for a while on Patrick's live pedalboard as a loaner.
See those white tape hashmarks? Those were Patrick's preferred modulation settings. He could flick it on the fly between chorus and flanger depending on the song.
Most notable use everyone will recognize? The gentle swooshing flange during the halftime-feeling section of "Listen To The Music."
Like a lazy flowing river

I love everything DB and their music just makes me feel like singing at the top of my lungs but I am a huge fan of McDonald’s vocals whether with the DB ,Steely Dan, or solo. Hell, I play Shine Sweet Freedom (extended version)many times a week just because it makes me feel so damn positive and it’s fun to sing along with.
The one song that just gets to me from the jump is Here to Love You. That opening piano is like they pulled some shite straight out of The Meters or Professor Longhairs back pocket and stole it so McDonald could create a damn vocal national championship.

Black Water lost me at "catfish are jumpin."
I have an memorable attachment to South City Midnight Lady. I like their answer to BTO, Rockin Down the Highway. The OP is a solid tune.
