I had to sign up for the “don’t molest kids” class that the diocese makes us do now.

It’s really mind-boggling when you think about it that there was so much child sex abuse in this organization that they now place an affirmative obligation on parents to take classes to a) not molest kids and b) recognize signs that kids may be getting molested.

I’m going to go sit through an hour class about not touching kids because you weird motherfrickers couldn’t stop touching kids and having Church hierarchy hide and/ or cover it up.

And I’m voluntarily sending my kids here because the public schools are utter and complete failures and I can control my kids’ socioeconomic exposure here.

The whole thing is asinine when you sit back and look at it.

I understand that

This is really weird. Sounds like a good way to have sheltered kids who grow up to become turds who can’t handle the real world.

They should start giving those classes at seminary.

Safe environment certification? Or is it something different now?

I had to do that 10 years ago

Schools and Prot churches are just as bad, and should do it as well.

But it’s not really. The little girl whose house my daughter will want to sleep out at in second grade lives down the road from me; not in the hood. In my particular city and this particular school, there’s an 80% chance I already know her parents and have for 20 years. That’s why I’m paying tuition and sitting through “don’t rape kids” classes. I’m paying for exclusivity and some level of control.

Catholic Church is a fraud.

Why wouldn't you just send them to a Baptist school so you don't have to worry about them being molested and turning into creeps?

Do y’all not have neighborhood public schools at elementary level?

Or do you also live in the hood?

These were my thoughts exactly, about 15-20 years ago.

It started during my time as a parent, and the videos were very poorly done initially. Complete waste of time. Preaching to the choir, yada yada.

Was called Safe Environment training. And it didn't end there. You had to get "re-certified" every year if you ever want to be allowed on campus to do anything with your kid like have lunch, doughnuts with dad day, field day.

My silent position on the school's position is: how about I give you my money and YOU do the right thing. I'm already doing it.

Around here neighborhood public schools aren’t a thing, you get the one choice of whatever district you live or the couple private schools we have in the Parish.

I’ve done the diocese crap and the Boy Scout crap. There’s 2 things to take from it:

(1) It’s all to cover their arse in lawsuits

(2) The reason we have to do it is because somebody did that sick shite

Just do it and be done with it. Don’t be that loser dad who complains about how ridiculous it is.

Kids get molested at public schools too.

But the parents don’t have to sit through any tine-wasting videos.

Get molested by a priest or the MILF 4th grade teacher. Take your pick

Two things Louisiana lacks:

1. Private secular education.

2. Competent private Christian education.

I would love for either to he taught using college track curriculum.

Louisiana believes "religious education" is necessary for private school apparently.

I wish we had more non-Catholic Christian schools around the SWLA area that aren't dumping grounds for problematic students.
