And happy birthday to the baby she killed:

quote:

Few rock bands are anywhere near as iconic as Fleetwood Mac, but according to a recent interview with Stevie Nicks in the Guardian, the band would likely have had to cut their rise to fame short if she hadn’t ended a pregnancy in 1979. “If I had not had that abortion, I’m pretty sure there would have been no Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks, now 72, told the paper.

Yeah, I know all about it.
But I desperately try to steer clear of musicians past and politics. It’s getting harder everyday. But if I let their past transgressions or political views influence me, I’m not sure who would be left to listen to.

Well that was a close call. Imagine having no Fleetwood Mac!

Like I wrote earlier, Floor Jansen toured quite visibly pregnant. Wrote her songs too

Amen, brother. When my artists agree with my politicians, I need to reassess my life.

Ooof...

The callousness with which some people operate is beyond me. At 72 she should probably work on that delivery for the next time she has to explain it.

I wonder if the father to that aborted pregnancy was none other than Lindsey Buckingham?
If so that child with those genes may have been a special talent to.

It was Don Henley.

Fleetwood Mac existed before Stevie Nicks

Two self-centered scumbags. He probably would have punched her in the stomach if she’d asked him to.

I don't give a shite if she had an abortion or not, but the idea that two famous rock stars can't have a kid and continue their careers is ridiculous.

And this Henley/Nicks relationship happened well after the two key albums, Fleetwood Mac (1975) and Rumours (1977) had already happened.

If I had not had that abortion, I’m pretty sure there would have been no Fleetwood Mac,

No, you dumb clam, there would have been no song, Sara.

FFS, these people... Advocate for choice all you want. Don't make it a celebration.

For the record, it is a great song and lyrically appears to be somewhat remorseful, so she must have been aware of it at the time. I always perceived the song to be her way of dealing with the regret in killing a child.

And, also for the record, a pot-obsessed bed-hopping cokehead would likely not have made for a good mother. On the other hand, a child might have had a positive, domesticating influence on her "Wild Heart."

But, we'll never know, now.
