Normally 3 - 4 hummingbirds have been in the yard. But since the rain in the past month, I've only seen 1 at best around the feeders and plants. Anybody experiencing the same?

Same here in Madisonville.
Saw a single bird buzz in an out for a drink once or twice but that’s it. Generally we will have a couple hang around for a few days and drink every few minutes. Then they will leave and another will come.
Nothing this year. I keep changing my juice too

Side note, how long has it taken previously for hummingbirds to show up for the first time for yall? I’ve seen them rarely in my neighborhood, just put out a feeder two days ago. I’m expecting a couple weeks at least until they find it

I moved to a different house over the winter. Put out 2 feeders 2 weeks ago. Had multiple birds on the 1st day. Have at least 4 or 5 buzzing around every day. Location Northssippi

Had two for about a week, but now they seem to be gone. Nothing. Central Mississippi

Your hummingbirds must be what is hovering around our yucca blooms. They've been busy sucking nectar every time I look out the window.

Could be migration flight changes. We had a veritable hummer airport for 3 years running. Like 20 of them hitting the feeders all day for a couples of weeks then moving on. Last year and this year we have 3 or 4 on a good day.

Last year was my best year in the 20 years at my house before I moved. At times during the fall migration I would have 40-60 hummers on and around my 4 feeders. 1/2 gallon of juice a day during that 2 week fall migration.

Every now and then I will see one even with fresh water. I've seen more illegals than hummingbirds lately

Last year I had 30 or so buzzing around. This year there are maybe 5 or 6. I feel like I planted all this damn salvia for nothing.

When nesting, you see a huge decrease in feeder activity. The birds concentrate on catching insects, as those are necessary for egg development and for feeding babies.

I can’t even get one here in Florida. Been trying 3 years.

Yeah, it'll be mainly males during nesting with females occasionally. I've also noticed the opposite of what OP describes for me. When it gets hot and dry I seem to only have the ones nesting in the immediate area. The others tend to go to shadier areas, I guess. They always return in big numbers as soon as it rains a little and it is a free for all of aerial warfare.
Here's a Hummingbird nest I found a few years ago on a low branch of a dogwood tree. Made of lichen and spider webs so that it expands with the growth of rhe baby birds.

We normally have a bunch of them, but I've only seen 1 this spring 1 time.
