Or is it mostly going to be an isolated, or at least very rare instance?

I know there was talk of something in Georgia, but I haven’t followed that one too closely.

Just curious.

Shout out West University, Bellaire, Highland Park, University Park, and all the other "island" jurisdictions...

Depends on your opinion on a pattern, will unincorporated citizens want to create a city elsewhere, yes

St George incorporated because the merged city parish was robbing them blind.

AFAIK, Fulton County isn’t merged with Atlanta, so unincorporated areas could incorporate but any incorporated areas wanting out would have to disincorporate first.

St. George didn't start anything. It's actually following in the footsteps of other cities. The only difference is BR didn't give a damn about a little small town like Central. But once someone suggested ending the BR gravy train all hell broke loose.

The arguments against St. George were always a complete farce. At one point in history the area that is now the city of Baton Rouge was not an incorporated city. So why shouldn't another unincorporated area be allowed to form their own city?

Sounds like that's the key characteristic. But the media is making it sound like part of the city broke away.

Bc then they can make a race issue out of it.

If the media reported that the new city was previously unincorporated, paid taxes to a city they aren’t residences and even suggested by the current mayor when she was a legislator, it doesn’t get the clicks and isn’t a story.

Is it actually a part of the incorporated city of Shreveport right now or an unincorporated area outside of Shreveport’s city limits that is just part of the metro area like St George was to Baton Rouge?

They are scared to death ,because the ground work has been laid and a precedent set. Black run cities will not survive without white money and will devolve into Mogadishu. There is a reason this has made national news and has been criticized heavily by these legacy publications.

Not without disincorporating first IIRC.

Orleans and NO have the exact same city limits.
