The Crow was released in theaters on May 13th 1994.
I recently rewatched and it holds up very well IMO.
Has one of the best soundtracks. It features Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Rollins Band, Rage Against the Machine, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, The Cure and many more cult classic bands to match this cult classic film.
I’m predicting the reboot is gonna suck

I remember the mythology around this movie when it came out.
No internet, chat rooms, celebrity gossip shows, etc. just small mentions for a few days in the mainstream media.
MTV, Rolling Stone and a few other rags had the only reporting on the movie. There was such a visceral feeling that you were about to see something!
Just a great opening night memory at Acadiana Mall cinema.

I’ve still never seen it. I missed it during its original run because it was rated R. And I was big into Bruce Lee at the time so I really wanted to see this cool movie with his son in it. I’ll have to give it a go soon.

The reboot will be arse, but I don't care cuz I aint never gonna see it.
This movie is the most atmospheric movie I've ever seen, and the biggest reason why is that soundtrack....Holy Sheeeeit! What a fricking album!

Alex Proyas knocked it out of the park with this one, and he deserves more recognition for his body of work overall. Dark City is phenomenal, Knowing is highly underrated and I Robot is pretty good despite all the a-hole producers forcing him to do their stupid shite. It's a shame he doesn't get more opportunities to film.
Brandon Lee's acting is awkward in the Crow, but it actually is quite endearing. It works. There's a charm that he brings which makes the movie shine. This is still one of my alltime favorite movies, and it's crazy to think it has been 30 years. Wow. I need to fire up the theater room with this real soon.

I've posted this here before. But every time The Crow comes up, I think about the stripper named Shelly Webster:
I had read the comic as a young teen and was obsessed with the movie. I had a Crow poster on my wall, and a few Crow t-shirts. I bought the movie on VHS when it came out and would watch it often.
Many years later it was my bachelor party and we wound up at Visions - as bachelor parties often do.
Visions has a thing where you can pay to have someone pulled on stage by the strippers, and they pull your clothes off and basically beat the shite out of you.
My friends did that to me. I was so drunk that I didn't care.
After being beaten by a bunch of strippers, they pulled me back stage so I can put my clothes back on. The girls all signed a Visions shirt. But signed it with their stripper names like "Sparkle" and "Gem Stone' or whatever it is strippers call themselves.
One of the girls, who had a goth theme going on, signed the shirt "True Love Always, Shelly Webster"
She said "You probably don't even know who Shelly Webster is."
As drunk as I was, I looked her dead in the eye and said "Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children."
She basically melted on the spot. I'm pretty sure I could have taken her home that night.

14 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT 'THE CROW' SOUNDTRACK
1. The Cure's "Burn" was recorded by just the band's frontman Robert Smith and drummer Boris Williams
2. Machines of Loving Grace read the screenplay of The Crow before writing "Golgotha Tenement Blues" and created the song to fit the film
3. Stone Temple Pilots originally planned to contribute a different song than "Big Empty" to the soundtrack, but switched gears after Brandon Lee's death
4. Nine Inch Nails' Joy Division cover ("Dead Souls") is a Crow soundtrack standout, but according to Peter Hook, the former members of Joy Division were originally asked to cover the band
5. Rage Against the Machine's "Darkness" dates back to Zack de la Rocha's pre-RATM band Inside Out
6. Violent Femmes had written "Color Me Once" before they were asked to contribute in The Crow soundtrack, but based on what they heard about the movie, they thought it would fit
7. The song "Ghost Rider" is based on the Marvel comic-book character, but Henry Rollins was not a fan of the "motorcycle hero ... blazin' away"
8. Helmet's "Milktoast" is an alternate version of the band's "Milquetoast" recorded with Nevermind producer Butch Vig, who played a big part in the outcome of both versions
9. Pantera not only paid tribute to hardcore crew Poison Idea with their cover of "The Badge," but they also took influence from the group on Far Beyond Driven
10. For Love Not Lisa were initially reluctant to be part of The Crow soundtrack because they thought it was going to be "crappy kung-fu movie"
11. My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult shot their brief but memorable cameo in The Crow, playing their song "After the Flesh" "10 thousand times" in a freezing cold abandoned cement factory over two days
12. Despite being released on the Jesus and Mary Chains' The Sound of Speed compilation months before its appearance on The Crow soundtrack, "Snakedriver" was written for the movie
13. Medicine's "Time Baby III" features the Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser and is titled "III" because there are, in fact, three versions of the song
14. Jane Siberry's "It Can't Rain All the Time" was co-written by Graeme Revell, who scored the movie and was also the mainstay member of Eighties industrial outfit SPK

Yea I think the awkwardness of the performance ended up suiting the character perfectly imo. Eric was just a nice normal dude thrust into this fricked up violent ordeal and he has to come to terms with what he is and what he must do.

That soundtrack brings me back to some dark places I was at in the summer of '94.

Agree completely on Lee. And actually, I don't think it's too greatly acted by anybody on the cast really. But it just works for whatever reason.
Also, the atmosphere they created is just fantastic. It really has that same sort of gritty vibe similar to what Nolan created in Batman Begins. Just a gritty and dark, but realistic place.
It's been a few years since I've seen it last, but I may have to change that soon.
It can't rain all the time.

Check out the soundtrack to judgment night as well. Really good one.
The crow soundtrack is my number one soundtrack with judgment night coming in second place and third place is probably the soundtrack to spawn.
Judgment night is great because of the collabs between rock and rap music and done really well.

It was insane how many great movies came out in 1994. Arguably the greatest movie year ever.

It had an interesting act one structure.
The Crow and The Professional, as best I can remember, are the only movies I didn't care for upon first viewing that I've grown to admire more and more with each repeated viewing.

I love this song. Is it contrived? Absolutely. I don’t care though. It’s Awesome.

It’s in contention for certain. I believe the 90s and the 40s are the two best decades of cinema. The 90s was loaded with original, smart, well directed movies. When you look at a list of everything that came out it’s stunning to see.
