There are a lot more drugs done on those floors than people would like to admit from adderall abuse to roxies.

They also don’t have any time to spend it so there’s that

I came out if school in O&G service where 80 hrs was damn near mandatory and was 120 hrs was pretty usual.
I was about to say the same thing. I went from going to a class in HS to swinging a hammer and pulling wrenches for no less than 12-14 hrs a day for weeks at a time. Literally 2 days after I graduated. I can’t tell you how many times I went in at 6 am and didn’t leave that bitch till 8-9pm, then realizing we’d missed lunch and all that. Stop and look around and was like damn, it’s already nighttime. What a bunch of pussies man.

Anybody that says you should not do this if it is an option is absolutely insane. Period. I mean crazy.

If they were so smart and hardworking they’d start their own business and get paid way more.
I think they do it for the prestige and the lifestyle and the money is just a way to measure your dick.

I think you’re confusing it with the movie Boiler Room

There are drugs and yes it is definitely part of the culture. You go and make the connections you will need that will hook you up the rest of your freaking life. These are connections that are not like your average local business owner. The pure money involved is something you want to be in.

On one hand it's in the contract and if you wanna succeed it takes grueling hard work.
The other hand look I'll personally work 60-70 hr weeks but working anywhere near 100....frick that I need a true weekend.

I could give two shits. People who care more about money than life are horrible people.

It’s apples to oranges. I’ve done both.
Offshore can be physically taxing if you’re not the safety guy or some shite. But you at least get to recover on your days off.
Finance bros really never get a day off. It’s mentally exhausting even before the abusive culture.
Anecdote, I always slept good after a long day on a rig. Deal work would stress me out so much I’d go days without really sleeping. But I never worried about getting killed by a crane operator running deals either. They’re just different and hard in their own way.

Young and can't work those hours??????? Soft. I started my business portfolio much later in life and worked over 100 hours every week for 4 years. You gotta pay the piper. It was worth it.

I dont mean to sound sarcastic- but how in the world do you find time to post on tigerdroppings ? If i had ur schedule id be passed out sleeping during my off hours, I don’t think im the only one .
Ha yea, dude has 90k posts on a message board and wants us to believe he's slaving away for 100 hours a week. E-cred is serious business.
These threads are always my favorite where everyone brags how much they work like it's some flex. Spoiler alert: nobody gets to the end of life and wishes they had worked more.

I see most people didn’t read the article. The guy was a green beret for a decade and did several tours. This wasn’t some soy boy

No you didn’t. You’re full of shite.

I was going to say the same thing. I love how these threads always devolve into who’s worked more and harder

There's a slew of new conversation this week after a 35 year old guy dropped dead from being "overworked"
I saw a Columbia student just yesterday saying she was being starved to death by the university.

Turns out he died from a blood clot that moved to the heart. After separating from the military last year.
