truck looks like a Somalian technical
ETA: "Among irregular militaries, often centered on the perceived strength and charisma of male warlords, the prestige of technicals is strong. According to one article, "The Technical is the most significant symbol of power in southern Somalia. It is a small truck with large tripod machine guns mounted on the back. A warlord's power is measured by how many of these vehicles he has."

This is a video about how our government sucks at predicting outcomes of their actions and refuses to admit they were wrong.

If you really want this exact level of functionality with similar performance, go buy a John Deere Gator.
A used gator will run you double what a used mini truck costs. Hell, stupid side-by-sides cost more than most vehicles did not too long ago.

Maybe so, but your fat arse will actually fit in a Gator, even if it does hang over the sides. That Toyota cab is designed for the Asian market, probably a median 5' 4" height and 140 lb with a tool belt.

The Helix is ubiquitous wherever I go. And yet, not a Helix in sight…

Don’t even get me started on the land cruisers…

The one they offer in other countries is sold cheaply and has the same tech as the early 2000s. That is what we want.

If it’s good enough to overthrow government and crush enemies, than it’s good enough for me.

My bad sorry you want to pay an extra 60k for you’re heated seats, lane control, touch screen dash board, and defroster window for a work utility vehicle.
Put all that shite in one of those little trucks you linked and you gotta deal.

Safety and emissions standards. Emissions are what they are but motorcycles are legal....they ain't safe.
It is really ridiculous that we accept the fact that we must have a vehicle that weighs 3000 pounds and can run for hours at 80 and 90 MPH and be able to survive a helluva crash to make the 5 minute trip to WalMart....a trip that is made at 35 and 40 mph and is only carrying 600 pounds or so....

Also, you have to remember...if there was money to be made selling those here they would.
They'd sell every one they could make.
They would sell a few. People are always pining for a cheap basic no frills work truck but they are the slowest sellers. If it weren't for fleet sales, they would have no reason to build them. A lot of things seem neat to have to a lot of people, but very few ever pull the trigger and buy it. Remember the Segway?

Video says no 4 wheel drive available yet, but of course it will be coming.
If they design it with a divorced transfer case, similar to the Suzuki Samurai ( but stronger ), It would be too good to be true.

You can get a used street legal K truck (jap truck) for about $5,000. I'm seriously considering getting one for around the house.
Link? Further info? Anything, just spit it out. My interest is piqued.

A bit more data for the fanbois here:
1. That thing weighs in at an unbelievable 2,790 KILOGRAMS. Multiple sites quote the same number. That's 6,138 lbs. That is in the same range as a Ford F250.
SIX
THOUSAND
POUNDS
Such a paragon of Toyota engineering supremacy. How could they possibly have made it that heavy? Cast iron frame rails and quarter inch thick pot metal body panels maybe?
Surely it must have a true beast of a powerplant, right? The "high output" engine, which only comes with an antique 6 speed automatic, pumps out a not-so-great 164 HP/181 ft-lbf torque. For comparison, a base hybrid Ford Maverick, weighing in at around 3600 lb, puts out about the same power, while having a payload almost 50% greater.
0-30 MPH, you're prolly in a dead heat with a Bobcat with a scoop full of wet Louisiana mud in this 'Yota. 0-60 MPH, you'll need a calendar, an empty Kansas interstate, and a 25 MPH tailwind.
This truck was designed ground-up to live in 3rd world shitholes, driven by 3rd world shitheads, who treat it the same as they are treated, and in traffic that never exceeds 35 MPH, if its moving at all. If it can even be had with AC, you won't be climbing any hills with the AC on. Not one of you would buy it.
