Belmont didn’t. Like I said, they built an amazing card around their race and it’s always full.

Makes me sad that I will never see a horse like Secretariat run in my lifetime

He was the superhorse of all time. Secretariat still owns the records at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and the Belmont. It's been over 50 freakin' years and he still has all the records.

They get almost 1/4th the TV Viewership when there is no Triple Crown in play

The wagering public do not care about the viewership. Handle and pools will be solid, as always. Besides, the object of horseracing par mutuel wagering is to beat the favorite. Your betting against other bettors.

The organizers of the events do, I'm quite sure. Which was my statement.

[Mystik Dan] isn't really eating a lot right now. He's pretty exhausted.

I am no expert, but usually eating food helps with exhaustion as calories give energy.

Feed that Dan!

A lot of times they go off their feed after a big exertion.

Which is why Belmont adjusted for it and they get a good handle every year. That’s what they care about… how much is bet. Not how many people watch.

Pimlico can fall in a sinkhole created by their own faulty plumbing, for all I care.

there was no doubt in my mind he would've won the TC

I’m still sad to this day about my favorite horse I’ll have another getting retired before the Belmont.

Again you know more about this than me for sure but is it usually a day or two, or a week?

Wouldn't every Derby winner be in this position a couple days later?

Pimlico always gets 100k and the Belmont at Saratoga is already sold out. They have nothing to do with the viewership ratings. Tracks are in the business of making money from pools and on track handle. How hard is that to comprehend? Churchill doesn't give a dime to NBC. It's more like the other way around.

I still have my ill have another hat. Maybe I’ll wear it at my next show.

That was the race he was best bred for too. Those flower alleys run all day.

Sham is one of only 3 horses to cross the wire in under 2 min in the derby

That’s part of the mystique of the win, IMO. You almost never get to see the greats duel it out with both at the top of their game. Truly the stuff of legend.

$$$$

He had the cleanest ride in that Cavalry charge.

Why risk getting exposed?

Owners know they got lucky.....Probably putting him out to stud while the iron is hot. Winning the Derby alone is enough to demand the cash these days.
