Went to buy a used truck this weekend…update pg 5

GMC Sierra 1500 AT4
Test drove it last week, and I decided to buy it.
Long story short, when they presented the truck to me, the tires were swapped out and the bed cover had been removed.
The dealership acted surprised and “we will make it right” was the catch phrase of the day.
Is this a walk away moment or do we do the dance again?
WWTOTD?
What stories do you have?

Pay cash for a new vehicle that is delivered directly from the manufacturer.

Walk away moment for me, but if you are hard up for the vehicle I would give them a very limited window to correct.

Let us know the dealership so we never ever go there.

Where was that? Was it a dealership or just one of those shady used car places? I would've told them to frick themselves...
Was it just the tires, what brand, or rims as well...
What type of bed cover was it? I have a base model Back Flip II and it was $800...

these are only the most obvious things you noticed, im sure there are lots of other shady shite done you didnt even see.
if a place did that to me, i wouldnt buy a $20 bill from them for $10, because its probably counterfeit

Stealing (or trying to steal) should have consequences. Their consequences should be that they lose your business. If they lose enough business they will have to either stop stealing or shut down.
The problem is that there is some dumbass who will walk in behind you and buy it without asking any questions.
They don't care about losing you... They know someone will fall for it.

Walk away, and put them on blast so everyone knows what cocksuckers they are

I would have lots of questions and definitely use it to my advantage. That's real sketchy but also not too damn surprising.
I attempted to sell a vehicle several years ago to a dealer. Stopped in on a whim on the way home on a Friday to see what kind of quote I could get. Guy wouldn't go above list even with SEVERAL thousands of upgrades and custom additions. Fine! Told him I had to pick up my son at school and would be in Sat morning to close it out. Took off all of the additions except for the wheels and tires and showed up Sat morning and the guy started the BS about the extras that were removed. I told him we could go in and discuss privately. Requested his "manager" in and explained what happened personally. Sales guy looked like he was pissing himself. I walked out about 15 minutes later. Ended up selling privately about a month later for $1500 more and kept all of the extras and sold them later.
Dealerships can suck a dick! If you work at one, trust me, 95% of the population knows you are equivalent to a scam artist!

Yeah, I’m walking away immediately in that situation. I’m not making a large purchase from a place I don’t trust.

My question would be what did they do with the other tires and bed cover? Did one of the salesman take them for their personal vehicle?

We bought a used 2021 a few years ago and the online pictures showed nerf bars and the truck in the lot did not have them.
When I asked them about it, they believe someone at one of their other dealerships stole them during detailing.
They knocked $500 off the price.

Had you already agreed to buy it, negotiated a price, and were just going to pick it up? Or did you decide to buy it and went up there to talk about it with them and tell them your decision?
Wheel swaps happen all the time with unsold vehicles. It’s only an issue if you agreed to purchase the vehicle as is, negotiated the price, and they changed it on delivery.
The tonneau cover thing is weird. That’s not normally something that gets swapped over.
