in the Reed Timmer chat, there are some saying 250 mph reported at airport near Bartlesville.. that’s a strong F4 if it’s verified.. stay safe out there

That storm closest to OKC could be trouble down the line

Storms are based on damage and not wind unfortunately. Maybe they will change that in the future.

Another bad thing about nocturnal storms is that it’s hard to know how significant and widespread the damage is.

Also this storm north of Carnegie is going to be problematic on this track for OKC area.

They're saying sirens never went off in Barnsdale.

Another example of why no one should rely on tornado sirens as a way to get warnings.

I’m surprised there’s not a warning on that. Been watching it for a minute

Seems unlikely considering the warning was pretty clear, but I guess it’s always possible.

They may not have. There's a reason you do not rely on sirens for warning. They are very limited in what they are designed to do.

I seem to remember hearing a news story a couple years ago about towns here in Kansas having outdated tornado warning systems. Would imagine a place like barnsdale could have the same issue.

If you don't have a shelter, wtf do you even do in that situation?

Find the best thing you can to hide under and pray.

I think officially you go to a bathroom or interior closet and use something like a mattress to protect you from debris

Yep. Shouldn't be an issue for 99% of people who own cell phones. And if I lived in OK I would also have weather radios which will alert as well.
