Kansas Ban On Child Transgender Medicalization Fails To Beat Veto After Two GOP Lawmakers Flip Votes

Why are republicans so weak?
quote:
Two Republicans broke ranks and voted with Democrats to tank the bill. State House Representatives Susan Concannon and Jesse Borjon voted against overriding the governor’s veto even though both had previously voted in favor of the bill. “We hear of bullying and ask authorities to make it stop,” Concannon said from the House floor. “We hear about mental health, about suicide, and ask why. We’re not listening to the impacted youth. Government involvement is not the answer.”
quote:
“I voted for this bill in the past due to concerns about the surgery,” she continued. “With further consideration, this bill is vague beyond the surgery. These decisions belong between the team of professionals and the parents. The youth need our help, not government overreach. To all who have reached out, I hear you, and vote to sustain the governor’s veto.” The other Republican who voted against the bill, Borjon, said he “strongly supports” prohibiting gender reassignment surgery and “limiting” the use of hormone blockers, but that some parts of the bill “go too far in restricting mental and behavioral health care for children.”

One of them was a dude. I hope they love having the blood of children on their hands. The tide is already turning, and in five to ten years all of these people will claim to have been against this, but we have the records. It will go down worse than the lobotomy when it’s all said and done.

Weak?
From the comment they believe in leaving such serious decisions, short of surgery, to the parents and their doctors.
Some of you really like the idea of government being involved in all sorts of individual medical decisions. Is that a conservative point of view?

I don't want any government in any medical procedure no matter how fricked up it is. I get this is fricked up but this is when the boards need to be pressured and getting it put in their policy. Whether it's mutilation or abortion the boards need to step in and do their job. Not the government

Let's leave the decisions of whether to give opioids to children to their parents and doctors

Based on that logic parents should be allowed to consent to their child having sex with adults. Parents should be allowed to let children drink alcohol from the second they are born. Parents should be allowed to do whatever they want with their children with no restrictions. Get the frick out of here with your bullshite.

Yes, it is. There are all kinds of restrictions on what a parent can allow, or disallow, even when it comes to medical decisions. For example parents aren't allowed to refuse blood transfusions even for religious reasons.
ETA: Gender mutiliation of a child is abhorrent and any parent who forces that on their children - who have no legal right to consent or agree to anything until they turn 18 - should all be imprisoned.

She'd rather them kill themselves in adulthood after they realize that they can never have a normal life because adults allowed them to irreparably mutilate themselves in childhood.

Nothing really infuriates me more than using suicide as an excuse to draw kids into a suicidal cult
There is a reason the productive, healthy, well-balanced trans person is a unicorn. One of the most famous trans people in the country - heralded as a success story - met his downfall for compulsively stealing women's clothing from suitcases and wearing them in public governmental appearances. Oopsie.
They're inherently at war with their own nature, which is why the suicide rate is astronomical. And it doesn't improve with treatment, which has the disorienting impact of ingratiating the delusions while the rest of the world - understandably - continues to view them as extremely disturbed.

She specifically excluded surgery.
Also, every case is different.

Any parent that would willingly maim their child and any frickstick doctor that would agree to it should be shot.

The problem is that for this particular issue, the medical community has been compromised. Doctors are following the dictates of the state, and parents have had their children taken away from them for refusing "affirming care."
Permanent, life altering medical procedures should NEVER be performed on children unless it is a true life or death situation. A boy who wants to play with his sister's dolls does not fall into that category.
Trans-regret is a real and growing issue, but those who dare to speak out are bullied beyond belief to keep their mouths shut.

No it isn't. It's all mental illness and we should start treating it as such. A boy can no more be a girl than he can be a dolphin or a train.

Unfortunately, some parents aren’t happy with the gender of their children. This is where the government steps in.
No one should be messing with a kid’s gender. If they want to be a girl or boy or whatever, it should wait until they are 18.

Yet the veto, which outlawed surgery, was upheld. Hmm.

Is it?
100% of transition treatments fail by any reasonable standard. The rate of happy, healthy post-transition patients is close to zero, and successful transitions, whereby one transforms their sex and/or gender to the point that they're at peace with their identity and the surrounding population is too, is absolutely 0%.

cutting a 15yo's dick off is not a medical decision. there is no medical health involved with this decision whatsoever. it it strictly a mutilation of genitalia for cosmetic reasons only, and that should never be allowed on anyone who is a minor. the doctors performing these surgeries or prescribing the hormone blockers are doing it for either or a combination of two reasons: they love the money, they are idiological psychopaths. They are just like you: sick, demented, evil motherfrickers.
