I think white people should do everything we can to be proud of our race. We should continue to create more safe, moral communities throughout the nation. If they are mostly white, which they will be, then so be it! Being white is ok and we should embrace it 10 fold!

Now, BTR has to look see who is left for it to collect revenue from. Whose left? The poor and industry. BTR has some hard choices - that need to be made.
The main issue with the funding is BRPD as the $50 million in sales tax taken from St. George businesses and used to pad the general fund. Which was then used to pay for BRPD and BRFD.
That $50 million shortfall needs to be made up somewhere. My prediction is that BRPD will fold into EBRSO, and will be funded by the State. The other option will be to raise taxes in Baton Rouge (either a dedicated property tax or increase the general fund property tax.)
Or the 3rd option which won't happen is budget cuts where City Hall has the power to cut the budget. Popular targets on this board for cuts are COA and BREC which are "self-funded" through parish wide property taxes and receive $0 from the City-Parish Government. Same with CATS in BR/Baker.
The real pain will come once St. George sets up it's own school district, which will absolutely gut the EBRPSS revenue which is currently funded by parish wide property taxes (minus Baker, Central, Zachary ISDs.)

When St. George puts Republicans in charge of education you will see immediate improvement.

Broome will have to cut the city budget. Taxes are as high as most are willing to pay.
If she raises taxes to makeup for the shortfall you won't be able to find a U Haul truck within a 100 miles.

That's why I'm predicting that Broome gives in and lets EBRSO take over BRPD. Mayor loses power, but the State takes over funding; taking $100 million off the books.
eta: Though I'm not sure if this has to be done by legislative action or if Gov. Landry can order it directly.

My thoughts are that people should be allowed to choose a form of government, if they have no current form of government.
They are not a city currently, so if they choose to be a city, they should be allowed to do so.
Whether or not that turns out to be a good idea, who knows.

Hoping the comment about Repubs being in charge of education was satirical. They held those posts in EBR for a long time. Long Long time.
Since this all came up, did any of the businesses who made sure to incorporate into BR have a change of heart? Mall at Bluebonnet, the casino, etc.
It will be an interesting case study for sure to see how this all plays out over the next 5-10 years.

St. George is not "White Flight". it's "Stand and Fight".

Fair enough. Separation by incorporation.
