Have any of you baws ever been to Peru? I have cousins on my Dad’s side, their Mom is Peruvian, and they have been to Peru a few times. I’ve seen pictures and the scenery is incredible, especially the mountains.
For those that went, what was your experience like? My cousin said the cuisine is also amazing.

How does a Peruvian lion greet others?
“Inca you ready for a roar-some time?”
…
Don’t worry, alpaca my stuff and get out of here.

I've heard the world's best cocaine comes from the mountains of Peru.

W
Peruvian Gold, it’s now tainted with fentanyl by the time it’s available in America.
So….. a trip to Peru is necessary if you want to experience the world’s best.
Pablo Escobar got his start by smuggling Peruvian Gold into Columbia in the 70’s.

I’ve been to Peru. Hiked all the way from Cusco to Aguas Calientes on the Salcantay Trail to Macchu Picchu.
As far as destitution, never really saw too much, but know it exists there. It be hard to beat what I saw in the Philippines.

The food is good. However, my wife, in an attempt at getting Internet access at the base of Machu Picchu, went into a random restaurant and ordered the soup.
What came next was 100% her fault.

Yes, but stayed in Lima.
Beautiful on the coast and had really good food.

Funny this should come up.
One of my goals is for this yankee Romeo to meet a Lima Juliet and take her to a fancy hotel to foxtrot and tango with plenty of whiskey and about a kilo.
I’ve even thought of my alias: Oscar Victor Sierra.

Yes, went to Lima, Huacachina, Cusco and of course Machu Picchu.
Pretty cool place. Great food in Lima and fairly developed if you avoid the shitty areas.
Cusco is a cool little town and I'd recommend staying a couple of nights before you head up to Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu is everything you think it is. Amazing place but like most tourist destinations these days can get overcrowded.
Be sure to drink a bunch of pisco sours.
Eta: the poverty in the poor areas is about as bad as I've seen and I've done my fair share of traveling. Stark reminder of how good we have it in the US.

Cordillera Huayhuash may be the best under the radar mountain trek/hike in the world. I could spend a month in Huaraz just being a mountain bum between Huayhuash and the Cordillera Blanca.
And then another month down in Cusco/Sacred Valley area doing the treks, the tourist shite, and some Rodgers tea.
I hear the food in Peru is pretty damn good too.

I went twice years ago for rock climbing in Huaraz, Cordillera Blanca, and Negra and to climb Aconcagua in the Andes.
My wife and I plan to visit Peru in the next few years mainly for the food. Peru and especially Lima has an incredible amount of haute cuisine and Central in Lima is arguably the best restaurant in the world right now.
It is a gorgeous and culturally rich country and has everything from the Andes to the Amazon rain forest.
