Send Guidry into the offseason focused on middle infield

Yes I know it was 1 at bat against bad Grambling pitching, but the first pitch the kid has seen live in two years was absolutely ripped. His shelf life as a reliever or closer is already showing signs of strain, we need the help and I’d much rather develop it in the program than shop for it in the open market. Scrap the pitching role officially and let’s focus his development up the middle. Can’t hurt given where we are two years in.

He was 1/7 last year against bad teams. He hit poorly in the fall and spring.

see above. He had at bats last season and against "live pitching" in intra-squad games as recently as January.

He'd be better off staying on campus and living in the weight room.
He needs physical development more than he needs skills development.
ETA: And that's whether they intend to keep pitching him or have him play a position. He needs to add weight either way.

That is exactly what they did last season and it didn't really work out.

Where would you even put him if Braswell comes back? I guess we will have an opening at 3rd but after this year it seems like Jay is going to be looking for some experience in the portal.
I say get him in the weight room and figure out how to get that FB back up to 95. Could be a good closer for us.

As long as he is striking people out, people need to chill as if his stuff isn’t good enough
He’s had command issues, not stuff issues

I just watched the post game interview. I think Guidry is going to stay a pitcher. CJJ literally said the only reason Guidry went in at a position is we were out of position players and needed to get Tommy White off the field when up 17 runs. He didn't want to take any chance of White getting hurt so he put in Guidry because nobody else was left.
Then he immediately said he wasn't enamored by Guidry hitting a 66 mph pitch for a double.
I'm not saying he wont get a chance after this season, but coach was pretty clear that he is a pitcher for now.

He got a hit on a guy whose fastball was in the low 70s. But let's make decisions based on that.

I’m open to letting Guidry do what he wants.
But if that’s your plan to upgrade our team, it’s not much more than a hope and a prayer.
We batted something like 20 guys last night and how many hit the ball hard? Just about everybody.

That’s a bad decision.

While I like Guidry, he can’t hit a FB harder than 90mph and can’t hit sec level breaking balls. He couldn’t hit a decent on in high school. Now, if he is going to get mid 80’s FB put him in. He will crush them.
