Answer the question, Counselor. You have an opinion on everything else. Why avoid this one?

No. It's completely irrelevant to this thread and is just dogwhistle virtue signaling. There is no reason to create a digression for this thread.

He can start his own thread to virtue signal.

Why? So you can avoid the question? As I stated, you are well known on the board for having an opinion from A to Z on every thread you enter...but answering this question honestly would put you in a corner, or answering dishonestly would show your true colors.

Or is the reason why St George wants to create their own municipality not relevant to the OP?

No. Anyone who wants to post about that off topic rambling can...in the new thread. Stop derailing this one.

This is hopefully the last response to this attempt at digression and derailing a thread on a specific topic.

Nothing the NAACP can do from this point will impact the incorporation moving forward after MOP gets kicked out of the LSC. They can file all the suits they want. In the eyes of the law, its over

I'm sure Shelly Dick is licking her lips at the thought of being able to do this.

No worries, Counselor. I believe you've been sufficiently exposed.

At this point, I think it is a matter of trying to hold off an ISD and to muddy the water on all that money EBR was supposed to set aside but instead spent.

EBRPSS is losing their shite because this and the proposed legislative changes are going to make an ISD happen.

The NAACP is more likely upset that this likely kills the city parish merger. Having full control over the mayor of BR doesn’t do you as much good if the parish president pulls the real purse strings.

NAACP's gripe is about the potential new school district and they will likely find a receptive audience in federal court for the because God forbid a federal court not stick its fricking nose into local education issues.

Maybe at the Middle District, but the 5th Circuit isn't going to play that game.

Hell would freeze over before they hold their own accountable for any-fricking-thing. Toe that victimhood line. How did we get where we are??

On what grounds do you think they'll be asking the feds to overturn a State SC on a purely State matter?

Two Words: “Disparate Impact”

And you keep forgetting that written law is meaningless in a common law system if judges decide otherwise. LA can say “ “But this is a state matter!” and THEY can say “You’re violating black civil rights, federal law has precedence “.

Until St George files for an ISD, how can they claim there is a case to be made based on that possibility?

They can't. And honestly, I don't know how a federal case for disparate impact would hold water here from a practical standpoint.

Its not like St. George is the first proposed independent school district in the country. There are thousands of them. Hell, there's three in East Baton Rouge Parish. I haven't research the issue, but federal jurisprudence surely cannot hold that "you must be forced to stay in and pay for a school district that you can't use simply because that district is majority black."

BR crime rates have a disparate impact on NBR as opposed to the rest of the city but having increased policing there is apparently racist.

Little old lady at Bocage apparently needs to be harassed as much as the guy slinging at a convenience store on Mohican.

And I would need to look at the demographics but my guess is that the ones for St George reflect the ones for the parish at large, which is probably 60-40.

It isn’t like this is a 90% white area no matter what the opponents claim it is.

Even if it were on this second incorporation go-round, there were a lot more black neighborhoods in the first attempt, and the opted out of the second one.

NAACP "you must be forced to remain tethered to people who actively chose to separate themselves from you."
