I can gather some changes are on the way. What are some that you can point out? Will BR kids be able to go to Woodlawn? I don't guess so anymore.

“The St. George Transition District will hold a press conference to discuss the ruling, the next steps, and answer questions on Monday, April 29, 2024, at
10:30 AM at the St. George Fire Department
Headquarters, Training Room B, located at 14100
Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70817.”

There is no St. George school district. Woodlawn is part of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. If you live in East Baton Rouge Parish, and attend Woodlawn, nothing changes.

We laugh at that dumb bitch broome any time we see her and remind her how this is 100% her fault and her fault alone.

I thought Woodlawn is outside of St. George. I would think they eventually build their own school system. Maybe I’m missing something though.

Woodlawn is definitely in St. George.

Serious answer as to what now:
Transitional government is created until elected government takes office. This has some potential for lawfare but less than the rest of what I'm about to list.
I believe the transitional and/or elected government must then start the process to create its own school district separate from EBRPSS. This will probably involve years of lawfare as it pertains to funding, real property, staffing, etc.
Meanwhile, years of lawfare will probably also be occurring in regards to property annexed by BR since the St. George petition.
And while all of that's going on, more lawfare will probably be occurring in regards to the financial obligations EBR and the consolidated city-parish government owe St. George and the obligations St. George may owe to the parish.
And at some point I expect the sheriff's elections to become extremely toxic in regards to St. George receiving perceived favoritism by EBRSO if the new city doesn't effectively staff it's own city agency.
Suffice it to say the next ten years will be interesting.

Actually first started with Kip Holden as mayor. He along with the legislature tried to such this down.

This will be quick work. They are null as a matter of statute.

I still rate him as a very decent Mayor for BR, but no, that was not his finest moment.

Does anyone know if the supposed money that was supposed to be in escrow exists? Not even sure thats what was supposed to happen. Maybe someone can clarify this.

It took Central just two years from when they voted to incorporate until a new school district was implemented.
The fight is over, Baton Rouge isn’t going to drag this out another decade.

EBRPSS is a separate entity and you can bet your arse they will scratch and claw.to keep "their" money. With the revenue they will be losing, a shitton of useless administrators will be losing their jobs.

I was responding to the immediate. Kids aren't getting kicked out of Woodlawn tomorrow if they don't live in St George.
The end goal of St George is to create an independent school district, but that will take time.

Sure they’ll try, but they no longer have standing. The legal fight is dead, it’s going to happen much sooner than later.
