Bic Mac dude turns 70 and downs his 34,000th Big Mac. “People said I’d be dead by now”

A US man has extended his record for most McDonald's Big Macs eaten in a lifetime to more than 34,000.
Don Gorske, 70, first gained the Guinness World Records title in 1999 and has now extended his record after eating 728 more Big Macs in 2023, according to the record-keeping company.
He used to consume nine Big Macs daily but has now cut it down to two — one for lunch and one for dinner.
In order to maintain his health, he doesn't eat french fries and walks six miles a day.
"Many people thought I'd be dead by now, but instead, I've been a record holder for my 24th year — one of Guinness World Records' longer-running record holders, so that's pretty cool to me," he said.
Gorske said that despite eating the burgers for over 50 years, he still relishes each one.
"People who have watched me eating a Big Mac often comment that I look like I'm eating one for the very first time," he said.
Gorske, a retired prison officer from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, ate his first Big Mac in 1972 and immediately knew how much he liked them.
"In that moment, I said: 'I'm going to probably eat these for the rest of my life.' I threw the cartons in the back seat and started counting them from day one," he said.
He has kept the receipts and containers of every burger he has eaten.
Out of all the ways to have the world remember you, why choose this? I just don’t get it

This is mental illness, right?

He looks like a reasonably sized Mac

I hope he has a bidet. Idk what that much McDonald’s would do to some stomach but it can’t be good.

He must have a whole storage unit full. You’d think the receipts would be enough

Well after 34000 Big Macs I'm glad he's now concerned about his health.

Bet you hes disappointed by the size of the Big Macs now compared to the size they used to be.

I guess it gives him some sense of identity. His body has to be about 93 on the inside

Also, I'm now craving a Big Mac with no pickles and a large fries with hot mustard dipping sauce and two packets of pepper and a Dasani to go please, thanks.

If that is what he looks like at 70 maybe I need to start eating Big Macs. Minus the bowl cut of course.

He looks older than that, but still looks good for his age. He's probably a pretty tall (search says he's 6'2")and has a large frame. Big Macs are practically diet food nowadays compared to some of the fast food options.
That said, if he really walks 6 miles a day and doesn't eat much else, he's way under his caloric needs.

A big mac with no sauce is a tasty sandwich. Even better with 2 black pepper packets sprinkled unto...... carry on

If he truly walks six miles a days and doesn’t eat the fries, he’s actually probably pretty healthy

Success stories like this man’s are literally why George Washington made America.

On the opposite end of that spectrum is my Pops.
He once got snowed/iced in at work along with an almost complete crew of coworkers. That ice lingered for several days, and the plant roads were a skating rink. There was a McDonald's around a quarter mile from the gate. At the time there were only a couple options and McDonald's was the only one open. The company fed them Big Macs and fries three times a day.
Pops never touched another Big Mac, and I don't recall ever seeing him eat McDonald's period, for the rest of his life.
I guess it is notable, though, that he didn't make 70 years old. So, maybe there really is something to a Big Mac diet.

Trash. Why would you ruin a classic meal like that. You get it exactly how it comes and you dip your fries in ketchup like a normal human with a coke.
No other way to eat it
