Seriously considered buying a home there. My office is off of Johnston St and it would be an easy commute, the school district is really good, they just built a NuNu's. Got a $250 ticket for being 4+ over when I went to go look at a new house 3 months ago frick that place.

City Bar, Heberts Specialty Meats, and speeding tickets is basically how they fund everything there
So stop doing business with City Bar and Specialty Meats. You have to put pressure on these business owners to stop looking the other way and letting this BS go on. Once their business begins to suffer, you better believe they’ll be at city council meetings demanding changes. That is the only way..

Just go the speed limit for 2 miles, problem solved.

Damn I guess I've been out of the loop but I did not know good radars were that expensive. $700++.

Have you tried the V1 2nd Gen?
Yes, I had one and sold it. The RL360c is better in all aspects, minus laser detection, which your nailed if targeted by any laser gun. A detector won’t save you.

Remember the X50?
I do, but I never owned one as I was using the V1. I think I had it for close to 25 years.
The build on the V1 and V1G2 are solid and only the Redline 360c can match it. The Uniden R7/R8 while a great detector feels cheap and the R7/R8 are a bit more chatty with false alerts especially with Hondas, Mazdas, and Acuras.

I’m probably uninformed on the topic these days, but I don’t know how any radar detector is effective nowadays. The lidar they use is red dot specific, and it’s “off” until they pull the trigger on a specific vehicle. Thus there was no warning shot to pick up in advance to register on the detector.

The majority of speed enforcement is still radar. In Louisiana, it’s mostly Ka band (LSP uses 34.7 Stalker / EBR Sheriff uses 35.5 Kustom / BR City uses 34.7 Stalker / St. Gabriel uses 35.5 Kustom / Ascension Sheriff uses 34.7 Stalker) as examples for radar.
Hammond, La still has an X band gun in use.
Parts of Livingston Parish small towns still use K band.
LSP uses LIDAR as well as BR City Police and EBRSO but with Waze with what it is today, a driver who uses this app and is aware of road situations has a pretty good chance of knowing what is ahead.

In most tests, the R8 is the absolute king of Ka band. It's better than the V1G2 on Ka band, and neck and neck with the RL 360c.

The latest firmware for the R7 makes a big improvement in reducing Mazda, Honda, etc. false alerts
Yep, like the poster said, range is impressive.
Have had hits just under 4 measured miles

There is no radar detector that saves you from instant on. Welsh PD learned me that recently.

Well yeah jammer tech can save you but can't it also get you thrown in the pokey?

Used this to avoid the speed traps along I-10 on my way to Sulphur and back for some state softball championship action.

Everyone on this thread is why Louisiana has the highest insurance rates in the country.
Slow the “F” down and oh, get off you phone !

Was Maurice, LA mentioned? Could have saved me $291 if it was.
And I'll assume that is just for the ticket. Wait until your insurer gets the notification that you got a speeding ticket and then watch as your rates go up about $50 or more a month for about 3 years.
