Unwrapped on Food Network with Marc Summer. I can watch that all day. And the Food that built America, excellent!

Cartoon Network was legit back then too.

Early 2000s tHC was the 3rd most popular channel among men (after the two ESPNs)
But a lot of the men were older. Sponsors want younger viewers, who are supposedly more willing to switch products. And women are believed to do most of the shopping
Ergo, the 16-34 female demo is the most sought after. And the classic HC did not deliver that.

How it’s made is tGOAT

quote:Much of their programming came from tUK. The English understandably are -- or at least were -- preoccupied w/WWII. Thus they produced a lot of docs on the subject.
Wasn't it nicknamed The Hitler Channel because all the show's it had on about Hitler?
THC would take those docs, slap on an American narrator, and voila! A HC doc.
That is why tHC had so much "The German Panzers moved inexorably toward Rheims..."

Mail Call was a great show too!
Maybe that’s what I was thinking of. I think it came on right before History of the Gun or something like that.

The Real West w/Kenny Rogers is probably the best-ever doc series on the Old West, produced before Woke & revisionism took over
ETA: IIRC tRW was on A&E, but same company

Seconds from disaster on National Geographic. PBS used to be great in the 80s and 90s for nature, history, and science stuff as well.
Honestly, good content is still out there. It's just on YouTube.

The Real West with Kenny Rogers
I was coming here to post this. They used to show it all the time during the day. I spent many hours doing schoolwork with that on.
That show was awesome.
Ken Burns blew it by not having Kenny narrate his country music documentary.
The two Battle 360s that THC did on the Enterprise and Patton were both great.

How The West Was Lost was a fascinating series. Can't remember if it was History or Discovery, too lazy to google. We fricked the Indians.

When I had my oldest, I went to the hospital late at night when my water broke but I didn’t go into labor until the next morning. I remember turning on the History Channel to pass the time, and the show that was on was the history of concrete. It was actually kinda interesting and very informative. I miss the History Channel that showed real history.

2 pages and no one’s mentioned the scrambled porn channel that the audio worked on?
