This is complicated.

Wrong screen, people care more about social media and their phones now than TV/movie screens. People like Mr beast are more famous than actors now

I’d love to go to the theater to watch a good comedy but they literally don’t exist anymore. It sucks. Movies made by streaming services don’t hit the same.

If there’s one man who knows about making successful movies in Hollywood, it’s definitely Jerry Seinfeld
Just ignore his decades of working in the entertainment industry, TV and stand up. I'm sure he's totally oblivious to how Hollywood works and can't see what's happening to the movie industry in real time.

Is that your understanding? That "the young people" are in control of major studios? Very noble of you to stand up for those crazy creative kids like Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy, and whichever other bright young minds are making the big decisions for major picture releases these days.

Streaming and cable has replaced movies.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” We’ve had Sopranos, GOT, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, etc. etc.

The traditional "Hollywood System" model is changing, but the industry as a whole is hardly over.
More filmmakers are making good TV ... RDJ for instance --- won an oscar and is also in an A24/HBO series in the same year.
Consumption and production are evolving, but films are not going away. Not by the hand of AI or streaming.

People are conflating the semantics.
Hollywood isn't king any longer.
You are more likely to influence culture on a hot youtube channel than you are as an actor in silver screen movies.
You are more likely to be the talk of the office watercooler in a Netflix series than you are as an actor in silver screen movies.
Hollywood is still relevant to the discussion. But they aren't the highest form of art for popular entertainment any longer.

It' s not like there will be zero movies being made, but he's stating the obvious. Movies aren't the lead dog in our culture anymore.
I would say the Oscar ratings continually dwindling is evidence of this.
I remember once upon a time when the Oscars was as big as the super bowl.

Joe Rogan is more trusted and more listened to than any journalist or news broadcast in the world.
People trust him more than anyone in the media (print, cable, or internet)
So people suggesting Hollywood is NOT over. . .well. . .

Yes I did ignore those things, mostly because they are not movies, which is what he and you are commenting on.

I think that's all he's saying. Barbie and Oppenheimer were kind of outliers last year, you don't see many "must see" movies that people are constantly talking out loud about. The Seinfeld episode about The English Patient is actually a good example lol
For those saying he's irrelevant, I'd rather listen to his 60 year old man new material than most current comics' prime material. I tried to watch a couple of specials on HBO and I was actually uncomfortable at how cringe it was
