Sorry I've been MIA baws.
I had some time off work and got a lvs32 livescope installed with the Garmin ECHOMAP 106sv screen.
I had some experience playing with one so I wasn't completely green. That said, the first hour or so was incredibly frustrating. I have the transducer mounted to the trolling motor shaft, so chasing roaming fish, in open water, with a little bit of wind is a challenge to get everything lined up.
Finally, I caught my first one. I thought I was chasing bass and it ended up being a white perch. Look how big my jig was...
So I sized down to a 1/8th jig head and a Bobby Garland Slab Hunter in Monkey Milk. Then it was on. I just cleaned 13 this morning, and have caught 28 in three half day trips by myself. Not killing them by any means, but getting better each day.
Also, shout out to Millenium Mounts. I was worried it might get in the way, but I've found having the screen lifted all the way up waist high is the best. You're just pitching to fish a few feet in front of you, not slinging cast all over the place.
Which brings me to my next question. I've been pitching a standard spinning rod at them, then an old timer pulled up next to me (with a live scope) and started working them with a long ACC Crappie Stix. He was catching 3 or 4 to my 1.
For those of you that use an ACC Crappie rod, what length do you prefer?

10, 11 and 13 foot, I use the 11 most of the time. That Cross Lake baw?

Yes, that’s Willow Point on Cross. I’ve been fishing it and staying close to home while I learn.

I like fishing back when it used to be fishing.

Technology will over kill wildlife cause humans have gotten too lazy to put in the work to harvest the animal they are in pursuit of.

It has completely changed bass fishing on lakes. Now everyone bobs up and down in the middle of the lake looking down. I will keep hoping as I enjoy the pursuit.

Question. When you go deer hunting, do they take the deer off of the leash before you shoot it?

I fought it too... until I got one.
I'm doing my part to thin the white perch, when I figure out a way to catch more bass as well, so be it.

Why would a deer in a squeeze chute have a leash?

Soon you’re going to see big decreases in creel limits. As more and more people catch more fish, more consistently with the leaps in technology and at some point they are going to reduce limits for everybody.
Either that or ban certain types of technology but once you open a canna worms, it’s hard to close it back

If I wanted to play a fishing video game I would play a fishing video game.

Looking at your screen you might want to adjust it for the stitching effect. It might be under the focus setting

its amazing how this board has done a 180 on L-scopes in just a year. If you said something negative about them you'd get hammered with "luddite" "if you use a trolling motor or a reel then you're a hypocrite".
I'm going to be poo-pooing them for as long as I can't afford a setup. After that I'll defend them.
Curious to know what the future holds for fish limits though. Fisheries set limits not expecting for people to reach them everyday or every other day. 5 crappies/day coming to a lake near you?

Don't know why. It doesn't make the fish bite. It only shows where they are. A guide had one in toledo bend and we didn't do good even though we were on top of them. They just didn't want to bite.

It’s cheating baw.
No if’s and’s or but’s.
“I hate high fence deer hunting” but I love scoping’.
When LADWF changes the limits, don’t come crying to this board.

Crappie fished yesterday for the first time this year. My setup is a 126Vsv with a lvs 34. The crappie didn't stand a chance. I only kept ten. Felt a little guilty it was so easy.

How much fish does one have to catch to pay for a live scope? The price of everything is high enough. Take as many as you want. Me, I'll just throw a hoop net with a lead on it and be done.

Fishing with a game warden and I pulled out a stick of dynamite and lit it. He said, that's illegal. I handed him the lit dynamite and said, you want to talk or fish.

I take as many as we need to eat. And I never try to justify my exorbitant expenditures. I also just bough a Skeeter FXR-21 limited. I'll never justify it except I wanted it.
I'm not anti-FFS. But it does take some of the mystery out of crappie fishing. I've not yet gotten proficient with it for bass fishing.
