Then LeBron became the biggest star because the league and the media decided he would be, and the sport went to absolute shite. The games are almost unrecognizable, and it's just shitty basketball. He broke sometime I liked and them called himself the goat for doing it. I hate that fricker

LeBron isn't the one to blame for that. Curry has more to do with it than LBJ but it is just the way the game has evolved. The defensive rules compared to the 80s and 90s changed the way post players could be defended. The old illegal defense made it much easier for post players to go to work. With the new rules it created more spacing which naturally opened up the scoring. What followed was coaches taking advantage of said spacing. Bigger players had to develop their shots because post up play wasn't as effective. The European influence on the game also had a huge impact on the game being like it is now.

So don't blame LBJ because you don't understand how basketball works.

Wait so you don't think he was the best player in the league?

It was the media that made him put up

31/7/6 on 50% shooting

They propped up his scoring numbers. He would make shot behind that arch and they would give him 3 instead of the 2.

I do hate him, call me a hater.

People acting like there are just a few haters in an isolated minority are what gets me. It is a huge percentage of NBA fans that straight up hate this dude. I live in California and a lot of the lifelong Laker fans I know just stopped watching or their interest in the team diminished when LeBron came to LA. One of my coworkers today told me he'll never be considered a real Laker. So it's clearly not the fact that he's just so good and opposing teams/fanbases are jealous of his greatness.

Jordan had his haters, but I don't remember him being anywhere near that divisive in the 90's. May have been different had social media existed, but I still don't think it would be anywhere close.

You have to ask yourself why that is. What is it about this guy that could make lifelong fans turn against their team?

Definitely would've been different with social media. Espn and the likes WORSHIP Lebron like they did Jordan, the difference is you can get online and read the other side.

Jordan had his haters on talk radio but they were largely drowned out. People called it fraudulent that the Bulls were paying double and triple other teams salary cap

Yeah everyone hates Lebron. Thats why, even though he is out of his prime, he still has the most jersey sales 5 out of the last 6 years.

There's basically two types of NBA fans. Those that are 40+ years old and grew up watching MJ. And those that are <40 years old and grew up with LeBron.

Then on the other hand this website is an echo chamber full of politards who aren't able to separate someone's political views from their sports views. I don't agree with some of his politics either but I also don't pick the sports team I support or the players I follow based on what they do outside of that sport.

And that’s it right there. All that needs to be said. No way in hell either one of them would allow the nuggets to dominate like that.

I love the Lakers but they fold like a wet towel in crunch time.

Kobe got dominated by much worse teams in his final season and he was 2 years younger than Bron is now.

Jordan also missed the playoffs when he was 38 and 39.

I'll never understand some people's mentality that losing to the defending champs in a playoff series (on the road and in a close game at that) is worse for your legacy than missing the playoffs.

Watching y'all shite on LeBron James during the postseason of his 21st year in the League is just incredible. Imagine the response a thread like this would get for attacking MJ Wizards for lacking a killer instinct after going 37-45 in consecutive seasons in an awful Eastern Conference. And he was younger and had played way fewer minutes at that point than Lebron has now.

I find it hilarious.

Lebron at 39 just put up a higher FG% than Jordan did at any point in his career

after game 1 you and everyone else were saying bron doesn't score in the 4th quarter because he doesn't have killer instinct.

he just scored 10 in the 4th quarter and now you move the goalposts to 1 shot

even if he wouldve won last night you'd just wait til next game they lose to move the goalposts again. you have no credibility.

I enjoy watching the greatest player of his generation still get it done at this level. I don't even root for the Lakers but Lebron is incredible at basketball. What he has done this season is unreal. higher field goal % and true shooting % than peak Jordan at 39 years old. more assists and rebounds than peak jordan as well.

The reason I love the Nuggets is the way they play team basketball. Lakers went to ISO ball at the end and lost because of it.

If he really was the goat and had a killer insinct he would have hit that last shot and not went down 0-2 lol

I get it. It’s a very bad day for the LOS crowd. But everything will be ok.

Going down 2-0 to the defending champs on the road at 39 years old isn't legacy defining

So MJ isn’t a goat and killer right? A Goat killer would have won 2 titles with the wizards. Don’t backtrack now

And how did KILLER Kobe do his last few years in LA?

Lol. Jordan probably knew he was done. He already did enough with his title wins and came back just to see. He wasn’t assembling his hand picked team to win a other one.

Lebron is actively still trying to be the man on a championship team. Sadly he is making himself and the lakers look foolish while also lessening his past accomplishments with these failures late in his career. Should have hung it up after their last “championship” honestly.

It’s ok. I get it. Sad sad day in LOS world. But rye world will keep spinning.

Just put up the best season of all time by anyone at his age

Do you feel the same way about Clemens/Johnson pitching into their 40s?
