So what I don't get is how and why she got into the little closet/hut thing and chained up by Vane. Are we to assume that Max left the tavern and went to Vane? Or that Vane somehow intercepted her trying to leave and kidnapped her/tortured her? If so, for what...more information? She doesn't have the page, so would he be torturing her for who has the missing page?
I wouldn't have thought it was Anne until the first reply to this. It makes sense because it does look like Anne had a little regret after Max was walking away. I just assumed it was just a random member of the crew but it being Anne adds a little more depth.

I took it as him essentially blaming her for them losing the pearls. Obviously it was Jacks fault but the setup wasn't as they planned and they lost the money because of it.

And also if he straight up tortured her why would she "pay her debt" to the man who just did that shite to her? Is she that broken of a person? Did she leave the tavern and then was found by the Ranger crew, and THEY were the ones who had her chained up in there?
I feel like a) it's about her repaying a debt because she also takes fault at the pearls being lost (although I'd be out at that spot diving down deep to collect what I could) but even more so b) that it's in spite of Eleanor.
I don't really blame Max or Eleanor for the stance they initially took. It made sense for Eleanor to back Flint and I can't blame a hooker for wanting to get away/having a chance to leave that life behind. But Max should have also understood that Eleanor would be leaving a lot behind. Eleanor is running a pretty big business, that's not something that you can drop and honestly didn't necessarily have that bad of a life.
A prostitute wanting to get away, sure, I get that. Someone that is running a pretty large scale and seemingly profitable merchant business..

I haven't watched it in years but I can say without a doubt knowing Rackhams story arc I see him in a whole new light in just the first 2 episodes.
I have so much more appreciation for how clearly he sees the big picture and trying to keep Oaf Vane from doing his usual stupid shite.
I have to say I hated the first half of the first season originally but I'm enjoying it much more this time around.
Great characters on this show.

Don’t forget, a lot of her siding with Vane and company had to do with revenge against Eleanor. It’s her biggest motivation through that entire ordeal.

one of my favorite lines early in the show is when Jack has finally got Flint, Vane, and Eleanor all in the same room and everybody keeps storming out and Vane looks over to Eleanor and says "are you surprised as I am that I'm the only one behaving myself?"
i don't know why, but it's a funny line to me.
and yes, you appreciate Rackham's vision way earlier on rewatch.

Anne also started to go walk over to Flint's crew when Eleanor made her declaration that Van'e crew was fricked, and Vane told her if she took another step he would kill her.
ETA:
During rewatch I also forgot how stupid Eleanor is sometimes, and how she makes dumb decisions that (sometimes) work out for her. Going to the tent and fricking Vane was so extraordinarily stupid from her standpoint. It's absolutely playing with fire by doing that, and of course she immediately regrets it when she discovers the Max shite.
Even if using Vane's emotions and feelings for her to her advantage is a decently smart play, that's not why she did it IMO. And I love how Mr. Scott always has that side eye glance toward her when she makes dumb decisions.

Same here for me. Watching now I have absolutely no idea how or why I found the first half of S1 boring or slow. There is a TON of shite that happens and it's almost all interesting.

Because you’re watching after figuring a lot of stuff out. I read the E1 summary on the wiki page to make sure I caught everything.
I’ll try and get E2 and 3 watched tomorrow.

FTR Eleanore, no boobs, no butt, basic white girl. Max had it all but that horrible accent.

i am not denying the exotic beauty of Max. but i disagree on Eli's boobs. she's absolutely gorgeous. and she slaps around men and handles herself like a boss the first couple of seasons.
max is of course attractive but if we're being degrading...
Eleanor has a 9/10 face 7/10 body, Max has a 6/10 face and 10/10 body. Accents are in play as well.
God help me for engaging in such ridiculous conversations.

Nah...knowing how it ends doesn't change my feelings on it. I just remember it being kinda slow the first time around. I just mean there is a ton of shite going on, even if you don't know how it ends or have everything sorted out yet.

This is just absolute insanity IMO. She is beautiful and has great knocks. And you can't even tell how much arse she has since they wear clothes that basically completely cover that shite.
Also, for good measure:

No love for Anne Bonny, she’s hot too. What about Charlotte, another hot one.
Posted on 4/25/24 at 4:07 pm to Madking
Anne is definitely hot to me. Doesn't have the body of Max obviously but I think she's prettier than Eleanor. Though she's kind of dirty most of the show She cleans up nice though.

yeah, her face is dirty and covered by a hat the majority of the first season.

And she dresses in absolutely unflattering clothes all of the time. IIRC Anne has a pretty nice body under all that filth.

Is she OK with T&A onscreen?
I just started as well... I am on episode 6. I will follow along with the group now every week. Good so far. I think things are about to start happening where I stopped. Will watch episode 6 today

like most series... a lot of it at the beginning and you think it's going to be a bit like Banshee or Strike Back, but it dives a bit harder into the plot and relies less on T&A later on. My wife liked GoT, Outlander, (early) True Blood but she didn't like this.
Which is funny because I feel like this is much more tame than the above for the most part.
Posted on 4/26/24 at 8:02 am to 3nOut
Interesting. Sounds like we are not going to get as much T&A moving forward.
On a side note, the chick that plays Miranda Barlow reminds me a lot Rob Starks wife in GOT
