Is UFC becoming more mainstream??

Been around a long time now. Seems to be everywhere. Feels like it was a white trash, rednecky kind of sport for the first several years, now people from all over the world are becoming more known in the mainstream.
It seems a lot bigger now.
Maybe all that McGregor stuff made it more relevant as well.
I don't watch UFC or boxing much, but I do prefer a good UFC fight.

TKO is bringing UFC and WWE mainstream and with some momentum right now. Both brands seem to be really hot and both headed in the right direction.

It is, to the point the fights aren’t really on point anymore. The fighters are becoming more like investments and most are now protected.
Refs are quicker to call them.

Yes, bc boxing is just hugging compared to 30+ years ago. Get on YouTube and watch those old boxing matches. They actually throw punches and dance around.

Dana White is a very shrewd businessman. He has been getting the YouTube influencers to promote the UFC by attending and hanging out with him. The sheep that follow the influencers start watching the UFC

That’s true but I also think more kids are participating in some type of martial arts training now than ever before. My son’s BJJ class is full of kids, boys and girls.

UFC really took off for me when covid hit and all the sports organizations except the UFC shut down. It was all we had to look forward to for a while, and ever since then I’ve been hooked.
I’d assume there’s other people who feel the same

Never really saw it as white trash (unless you’re talking about the toughman BS) but it’s grown in popularity. Fighters have become better and more well rounded, plus Dana isn’t a dumb business man.
I still watch it, but to me it’s gotten to the point of being over saturated. Seems there is some kind of MMA event or two every weekend now. I liked it back around 10yrs ago, but will still watch 300 some tonight as I want to see Kayla Harrison’s debut. Judo/BJJ guy here.

New Hummer came out just in time.

It is kinda lame how they basically guide certain fighters into certain paths that they want. Wish there was a more objective way of setting fights.

As more people get involved, you need more events for them to fight.

My favorite UFC era was 2005-2014.
UFC 60 (2005) Hughes vs Gracie all the way up to 2009 Machida vs Evans (UFC 98) were the best overall fights in my opinion. That 4 year span was awesome.
I still watch UFC, but I feel fighters like BJ Penn, Randy Couture and Georges St-Pierre were absolutely must watch television.
I enjoyed the Anderson Silva domination era, but I feel like the overall sport at that moment was lacking quality fighters.

He did pull a lot of interest when he was at his peak. But he hasn’t done shite the last 5 years. The sports has moved on from him and younger talents(omalley, Topuria) are taking his place.

UFC is great. Dana White has done an amazing job growing the sport. People like to talk shite like it is a trash sport but that’s far from the truth. Most events the cheapest ticket is $350 and does a good job of keeping the trash out. Go listen to some of the athlete interviews. Guys that you might think are trash in appearance are usually college educated, intelligent, and dedicated 100% to doing things the right way. You can’t make it in this sport on just athletics.

Imo, there are 2-5 fights/cards per year that are “mainstream”. The rest is still pretty niche

It’s all scripted. Damn globalist uniparty rurns everything.

I get it and the fighters of today are very good. But man Pride era MMA is still the goat. It was a full on show, that just happened to have fights in it.
