President Biden's campaign on Thursday launched a seven-figure ad buy in Arizona, focusing on abortion on as the state grapples with the fallout from a state Supreme Court decision earlier this week that enabled an 1864 law that bans nearly all abortions.

The Biden campaign has sought to link former President Donald Trump to near-total abortion bans since Trump appointed three conservative judges who were instrumental in the 2022 Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. Trump has touted his role in the effort to "kill" Roe v. Wade, although he has sought to distance himself from the Arizona decision.

"Because of Donald Trump, millions of women lost the fundamental freedom to control their own bodies," Mr. Biden says direct to camera in the ad. "And now, women's lives are in danger because of that. The question is, if Donald Trump gets back in power, what freedom will you lose next? Your body and your decisions belong to you, not the government, not Donald Trump. I will fight like hell to get your freedom back."

The ad, dubbed "Power Back," will run this month on targeted television programs, including Abbott Elementary, Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, The Voice, and SNL. The campaign said it's particularly seeking to target younger female and Latino residents.

Fitting that the Democrat president would buy ads for the democrat Republican nominee, Kari Lake Abrams in Arizona.

Will more abortions occur under a Dem administration or a GOP administration?

They were constantly running an ad here a few weeks ago scaring everyone about Trump pushing a national ban and where Biden says "Donald Trump doesn't trust women."

Trump just needs to stick to the states' rights line.

They have nothing else to run on. They’re desperate.

Rebellion against the One True God alters the mind. It's sad to see really. There is a rational, civil debate to be had about abortion. The pro-abortion side loses it every time, but at least there is one to be had. Our statist-pagan leaders and their followers have no interest in engaging in that debate.

The problem with that in Arizona is that "state's rights" just made this a top issue in 2024 in Arizona.

The pro-abortion crowd is going to cite this as an exact reason why the Trump victory in Dobbs puts "women's rights/health" at risk.

It doesn't affect their playbook at all and actually gives a concrete example of how "state's rights" can affect them directly.

I can’t fricking believe this is going to be the stupid center of this election.

I think abortion is horrible - I get it but it does not affect my life whatsoever and most people who are struggling don’t give a frick about it.

It needs to be left at the states and trump needs to maneuver to make it known it is now out of his control whether he wins or loses this upcoming election

There are already Sherrod Brown (Ohio) campaign ads tying Brown to Trump purposely so he can win. He has never been MAGA.

The abortion amendment in Ohio was ALL DEM ADS no common sense countering.

This doesn't work in AZ, though.

The action that is making AZ abortion central was a state Supreme Court ruling and a state law.

Making it a state issue is making AZ a doubtful win for Trump/GOP in November.

The AZ SC is acting on existing law. The remedy is to pass new law as did Alabama, or alternately to suffer the effects of the old one.

The dimocratixes used to look forward to the days when abortion was rare. Now they are advertising for it.

AZ was a lost cause long before this ruling. This just puts an exclamation point on it. Dump all those resources into NV + The rustbelt instead.

Again, which is likely to have the GOP lose AZ in November.

Why the talking point won't work for Trump.

I hate being told what I can and can't do. Actually, more than hate. If I'm told I have to do something, then I am going to fight back. If I want to do some stupid shite that you don't agree with, I'm going to fricking do it regardless of what you, the government or anyone else thinks.

During covid, I didn't wear a mask or get vaxxed. Not because I think I'm some science wizard, but because I'm going to do it my way and I am prepared to deal with whatever consequences there are for my actions and decisions.

Christians think if they outlaw something, they win. Absolutely the wrong line of thinking. Make the alternatives more attractive. Because telling people that they can't make their own decisions does nothing but cement them in their point of view.
