It was just feel different because the page feels like it has so much white space. But it definitely seems different.

The sig images broke up the white space too

I don't see the button that takes you to the last page of a thread you've read. It was there this morning

I never used those paging links and have always used the Replies column to tell me that a thread is long.

then move the replies closer to the thread

on desktop, its hard to line up the replies with the thread at times

or at least it is for someone as dumb as me

Why don't the upvote/downvote colors remain highlighted after refreshing the page? You no longer see what you've upvoted or downvoted.

We weren't sure if everyone would want to see that icon floating down the screen...so it was safer to make it an option that you have to turn on

Yes.

But even then, I'd still prefer the page numbers.

Its just easier to see which threads are busy.

Its the only change that is universally hated by all of your members. We beg you. Bring them back.

are you just interested in knowing that there are 21 pages?

It was convenient that it was right next to the title so you don't have to look all the way on the other side of the screen to see how many posts. Also yeah it's nice to know how many pages a thread is to give you an idea of if you want to read through it all or cut to the last page or two (which you could conveniently click next to the title) to see what exactly the discussion has evolved to. You have to manually divide by 20 in your head now if you're just looking at the post count.

Me seeing a thread is 20 pages gives me a much more immediate idea of how big it is than seeing 400 posts and trying to think of how many times I would have to click "next page" to get through it all and come to a decision whether I'm going to read through the whole thing or just skim it. If that makes any sense.

Plus it was very useful in big threads like when we had the Covid general that got to 1000s of pages and if I hadn't clicked on the thread in a while it might take me to page 500 from months ago if I go to the "last read page" if that was when I last checked it instead of just being able to click one of the last 3 pages from the board.

And yes it was easy to tell from a wide glance which threads were active instead of going "ok this thread, look to the right of the screen, 10 posts. This thread, look to the right of the screen, 20 posts. This thread, look to the right of the screen, 300 posts". You could just see immediately at first glance which threads had a lot of discussion and which ones had probably just been started or not that active.

I just don't see the reason for that particular change. It served a purpose and saved time, it wasn't just some unnecessary clutter.

How about old.tigerdropings.com for those of us who like page # and sig pics? Reddit does it and that place sucks.

Dark mode is nice. Page #s and sig pics lost in the name of "progress," is lame.

This 100%. It now requires more clicks from users to get to the last page if we've never looked at the thread before and just want the latest posts. It's a negative user experience without it.

On desktop, just click "Posts" at top left of the page. This has always been there.

On mobile, click the hamburger menu in the top left of the page and you will see "Posts" under your username.
