We applied in December still have not heard. Not a yes not a no. Disappointed because when they are this age and have heard from other places and are walking around their high school and everyone is talking about where they are going. She has grown up with purple and gold blood in her but looks they she will be heading to the “sip” next year if she does not hear something soon.

Someone said on here recently that LSU prefers out of state and international students.

Waiting on acceptance only? Not scholarship or anything?

Do they send this out digitally now is is it still snail mail?

I hope you’ve tried calling someone. They sure as hell aren’t going to help you from reading a post in here.

I'll make some calls. Hang tight.

Eta: On a serious note, best of luck to your kid.

In defense of LSU you did apply really late, you should get an email by may 15th which is the last day they would be going through applications.

Sounds like you should’ve focused more on travel softball.

Have you tried contacting the admissions office? Could be a simple mistake somewhere

ETA: I see you have been in contact with them. Seems a little weird you haven’t gotten a simple yes or no yet. We’ve gotten an answer from every school my daughter applied to.

You applied really late. Give it some time, I’d imagine you’ll hear something in the next month.

I’m not sure what the problem is but my kid got the acceptance email and follow up letter from LSU in February. Only school applies to and never wanted to consider anywhere else. We both attended and will have two there as of this fall.

I used to work in admissions at LSU. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the following is the issue:

1. STS - the state transcript system - hasn’t loaded your daughter’s transcript to state schools that she indicated an interest in on the ACT yet (or it has and they are just stuck in cyber space). Call LSU and find out. If this is the case, demand that her school manually emails the transcript to LSU (preferably her representative at LSU). This email must come directly from her guidance counselor though.

2. Your daughter doesn’t meet 100% of the requirements and maybe meets most of them, putting her in an exception pool that someone higher up in Admissions has to arbitrarily decide when and how to consider those in her situation. If this is the case, you need to contact LSU and her recruiter/representative every day and point out why she needs to be admitted. Don’t bother with mentioning all the extra curricular activities because they don’t mean shite to LSU, I promise you that. If there were extenuating circumstances - actually significant things out of her control that may have caused her GPA to be a little lower - then put those in writing and email it to the admissions representative, the director of admissions, and whoever else you can find higher up. The provost would be a decent one as well. You want to be on their radar when it’s time for reception pool to be considered.

3. Her school counselor is dragging feet with getting info to LSU.

good friends of ours had this same happening last year. they ended up coming with us to one of those tiger things......and after the tours etc of that day, in the student union area they waited for an hour to speak to someone in person, and their son was accepted that day. really no red flags for him either. private school, 3.8gpa, some extracurricular activities etc......just never was informed until they sat there that day and inquired about it.

College choice should be focused on fit and not family alumni or sports allegiance.

Set your kid up with the best chance of success by going to a school that wants your kid. Your kid should be in the top 25% of that college’s (GPA/SAT-ACT) attendees. They will get Merit money and be able to finish in 4 years, or under. Uni’s love the 5 year, full price kids.

Those kids accepted later in the process are what the university needs to pay for the kids that they want. If you haven’t heard by now, then they don’t want your kid.
