but not the in game results.
This is just not the case. He had two very productive years. He didn’t put up video game numbers because he wasn’t at a power program surrounded by elite nfl talent in a gimmick system offense.
He’s easily the best QB in this draft.

He was spot on about Tebow, Manziel, etc.
Nailing the low hanging fruit doesn’t make him a savant.

He has a pretty good track record w/this. He's a film rat.

I see he has inherited the Chris Simms “he was right on a couple QBs that must mean he knows whose gonna be good” franchise tag from this board
I wanted to see an analysis of his last 3-5 years to see what he was saying. I just knew he liked Stroud last season

For as many QBs that are predicted to go early, I think it’s entirely plausible that absolutely none of them end up being a top guy when it’s all said and done. Seems like a ton of risk with all of them.

About a month ago someone on radio was listing all of the ones and what he said about them, and it was actually very impressive.
I can't really remember specifics

To be fair, Hoge hates everyone, always has. He was always the Debbie Downer on ESPN.

I have friends who think Drake Maye will be a star, which I never have a clue why they keep saying this when he wasn't that special in college. Yet he's gonna somehow be an NFL star.
I'll go with the professional here. I agree dude will be an absolute bust.

He also had Joe Burrow with the only first round grade for a QB in the 2020 draft and had Jacob Eason as second in that class ahead of Hurts, Tua, Herbert, and Love: Let’s pump the brakes on the Hoge evaluations
ETA: He also said Brian Brohm would be better than Aaron Rodgers: Oof
2nd ETA: He also ranked Trubisky and Watson over Mahomes and said Mahomes should have been a second rounder.

Getting an elite QB on a cheap contract puts you in contender territory with just some decent mid round drafting and FA acquisitions.
With the new rookie wage scale every team should be looking at QB early if they don’t have one.

I'm not arguing either point, as truthfully I haven't watched enough Caleb to make an informed opinion. I'm just translating Hoge's point.
I thought we were discussing Maye.

This is good info
Not absurd for the first few years really. Watson was really good
But Trubisky over Mahomes is bad

He loved Zach Wilson before the draft.

I see he has inherited the Chris Simms “he was right on a couple QBs that must mean he knows whose gonna be good” franchise tag from this board The dirty secret is we are all guessing. Agents, media, teams, players, fans, etc. there’s a laundry list of factors and situations that lead to success vs failure and most of those are completely immeasurable. Anyone speaking with conviction on any of these QBs like this, is only asking to eventually look silly. But you take enough swings and you’ll have enough to cherry pick yourself into being a QB expert It’s pre draft. People want to hear and believe what they already think. Great content for Hoge to feed right into that You can find other draft guys doing the same type of analysis for the other top guys on the board. They are all making their dart throws
Your post is nothing but common sense. But at least Merril wrote something down with his name behind it and took a stand on his points.
So enlighten us, New England Patriots fan from Central..what’s your picks,

Most potential in the class and nobody else is a can’t miss at the position.

Maye might end up being the best QB and this draft... on the other hand he could be a bust.. Merril don't know... hell he thought Zach Wilson should have went first overall...

I think Maye needs to go to a team that is willing to bring him along slow. He has the tools just needs good coaching which I think he got at UNC. But he won't. He will get thrown in the fire and will go down the same road as Trubisky.

To be fair, pretty much everyone missed on Mahomes.
Except Reid.

Something about Maye has resulted in him performing below where you would expect him to for significant periods of time. Some games don't make sense.
