Is it possible to have a non-sh!t show conversation about youth baseball bats here?

My kid wanted a new bat for baseball this year, he researched and we decided on a marucci cat x composite because it seems like it's the most durable of the composite bats out there today. I told him i'd give him $200 max and he'd have to pay the rest for whatever he wanted, which he did with his Christmas and birthday money.
For those that have used or have kids/players that use these types of bats, after break in, do they use it in the cage or to hit weighted balls? Or is it strictly game use? He spent a lot and i want it to last for him.
note 1: he has a normal name spelled normally with no x's or -den ending. just a normal kid that likes playing with his padna's.
note 2: he isn't going pro, isn't playing in any showcase, isn't getting a scholarship, and will probably struggle to make his hs team. I have zero expectations except for him to have fun being a kid.

I just let mine use his for whatever he wants. We're not hitting hundreds of balls a day in the cage though.

did he order the custom made glove and design it himself

truth, but anything youth sports related leaves the rails at break-neck speed...

Absolutely do not hit weighted balls with it.
I would buy him a wood bat and have him swing that in the cage most of the time. On game days let him hit with his game bat in the cage and of course in the game.

Probably should have just gotten him a cheap bat and spent money on going to the batting cage.

age of kid? Size of bat? Kids growing won't use a bat forever cause they change sizes so frequently.
I wouldn't use weighted balls on bats except for maybe wood bats.
Cat x composite is a very durable bat. It might slightly get hotter in time but its pretty hot pretty much out the wrapper.

we have a wood bat that is slightly longer and heaver that he hits at home with.
my plan is what you listed above, gameday cage hitting and in game only.

Make sure to get the right bat.
There is USA, USSSA, and BBCOR or something like that.

What's the life expectancy of a bat like that?
But they real thing I'm wondering, does his team have any hot Moms?

No weighted balls, no bp. Game use only.

very few 11u kids swing or should be swinging -5's as game bats. starts to be more of a thing at 12's though. my 12u kid goes back and forth from -8 to a -5 30" bats right now. He's an average size 12u kid, not a monster.
